A lot will depend on his OC and DC. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk SunnySide 01-07-2020, 11:43 AM Apparently Garrett is interviewing with the Giants. Have to say i find that a little surprising. Can't remember the last time a HC swapped teams in the same division? Could you 100% trust Garrett? Seems like he is a Cowboy4Life. Hard to judge Garrett. Didnt he have his play calling duties stripped from him a few years ago and a new guy was calling plays this year? The 38-year-old began working on Bill Belichick's staff as a special teams assistant in 2012 before being promoted to special teams coordinator in 2015. He added wide receivers coach to his list of responsibilities this season. Before working with the Patriots, Judge was a special teams assistant under Nick Saban at Alabama. There were rumors weeks ago, they were worried about Dallas getting him. Gotta give it to Dan Snyder, he researched and found there number 1 and moved quickly. JoeRedskin 01-07-2020, 12:09 PM Of the five head coach openings at the end of the season, three were in the NFC East. At this point, only Cleveland remains open and they have their choice of the remaining potential HC's Washington: Ron Rivera Dallas: Mike McCarthy Carolina: Matt Rhule NY Giants: Joe Judge One minority candidate hired (Rivera); Two NFL coaches in their 2nd stint as a HC (Rivera, McCarthy); One former college head coach (Rhule); One former coordinator (Joe Judge). I think the strongest hires are the Rivera and McCarthy hires and, because of Del Rio as DC, I give the edge to Rivera. Time will tell if it Rodgers was responsible for McCarthy's success or if McCarthy enhanced Rogers ability to succeed. I am hopeful it is the former, but have a feeling it is the latter. Rhule, who knows, college coaches have a tough time in the NFL. There have been successes, most recently Harbaugh and Pete Carroll but it seems to me that they fail more often then they succeed. Not sure Rhule is of the same ilk as Caroll and Harbaugh, but my guess is that he is not. IMHO, seems like there were other college coaches more qualified to make the leap. Joe Judge, another who knows, as they only entry so far without ANY HC experience, there really is no track record on the guy. He may be the next Joe Gibbs or the next Josh McDaniels. Seems like a pretty random hire to me. In a very Bruce move they are snubbing interest Rhule, saying oh no Joe Judge was their guy all along... give me a fucking break... |
