I think Jordan Hicks was the more realistic target. When you look at what the Vikings paid him, 2 yr $10m contract with a $3.5m cap hit in '22 it is hard to understand if we were at all interested . As for Wagner, I think he will probably only sign a sub $15m py contract with a contender or somewhere he has connections like Dallas. Outside of these two the only other option would be if Ron or JDR have identified a rough diamond, a LB version of Logan Thomas. The rest are very meh.

The thing is I'll take known meh over being naked at LB for another season.
Holcomb, Jamin Davis, Hudson, Mayo and a couple of UDFAs is not a viable option. If we can't land Wagner, nor Schobert, (then why the F weren't we agressive on Myles Jack? He is athletic and led the jags in tackles last year. But that's not the point), I'll take a proven vet ala Hightower, Van Noyle or Minter. We can not not sign somebody in my view.

"The rest are Meh" was a broad inclusion of the Mayo/Bostic group. So there may be a few who are a little better than meh, I will defer to those with greater knowledge of the free agency landscape. It seems to me that many of the guys still out there are more OLB types than MLBs. After last year, I am not sure Ron and Co have the options that they think they have. As you say adding a couple of UDFAs to the current personnel is not a viable option, but that is exactly what they did last year. My broader point is, if they were targeting a starting quality MLB they have inexplicably let some good one escape for very little money.

Ah gotcha. We're on the same page then.

Jp:

Name I keep hearing (Chico warpath posting included) for Washington to target is veteran guard Andrew Norwell. Played in Jax last four years but was in Carolina before that. Brings veteran presence and nastiness to the line.

51 tackles 2.5 sacks ... production from Matty I and Settle last year.

I think we'll be alright, we love matty I for his 2019 64 tackle 8.5 sack year .. but hes had 45 tackles and 4 sacks total the last 2 years. He can collapse a pocket, I like him but he was rotational piece.

We love Settle for what he can or could become but he was depth.

Like SF said they aren’t starters so….
Matty I , I can live with he seems to be injury prone at this point. Settle I wish we had kept. Maybe not by trading Payne, but depending on what we got in return Id have tried.

Edit : matty I only had the one year with injuries so injury prone probably not, but at any rate i can live with him being gone. Settle to me was a better player and loved him rotating in snd out. Obviously though the guy could start elsewhere so.

Seems the Giants have picked up Ricky Seal-Jones ,anyone is better then Engram as far as I'm concerned. Stats are very similar.

@RapSheet

The Washington #Commanders are expected to sign former #Jaguars and #Panthers guard Andrew Norwell , source said. They are close on a deal. He fills a big void on the offensive line.

Nice. Wonder if it is less than what Flowers was set to make.
