Toughest off-season ?Daseal 06-10-2005, 09:09 PM Hey, I went almost two weeks! And no way, I wrote one that took up 3 pages once ;) Monksdown 06-10-2005, 10:46 PM I was programmed by local cable, after a few minutes I tune out. Serious problem when I try to read that peice of the bible you just published. Seriously dude, do you think Jesus will let us put it right after Exodus, or are we stuck with before? WarriorSpirit 06-11-2005, 12:37 AM Hey folks, I never posted here before but I've lurked every now and then. I saw this thread and wanted to say that this has been a chaotic offseason, more so than I can remember and I have been a fan since the late 70's. Think about it though, in the last 10 years or so, the chaos has been more during the season, while the offseason has usually been our high point. Maybe this is when we turn the tables and actually have a season to be proud of. Just my :twocents:, Hail to the Redskins!!! :food-smil SmootSmack 06-11-2005, 01:13 AM Hey folks, I never posted here before but I've lurked every now and then. I feel good about this season already. Sheriff Gonna Getcha 06-11-2005, 02:19 AM There are definately reasons to be concerned about this offseason. We have SERIOUS question marks at QB, WR, TE, DE and MLB. Moreover, that half of our starting lineup is different than it was last year (Ramsey, Cooley, Royal, Jansen, Rabach, Patten, Moss, Marshall, Harris, Taylor, and Daniels) raises questions about team chemistry. Finally, we lost two great players in Smoot (who was also a team leader) and Pierce. That said, as we all know by now, major offseason additions don't secure the Lombardi trophy. Additionally, of the new starters mentioned above, only three (Rabach, Moss, and Patten) are new to the team. Third, we shed some of the unhappy players (Coles and Gardner). Fourth, Gibbs has a year of coaching under his belt, so his offensive game planning should be much better. Fifth, Gibbs has a much better understanding of "what he has to work with" and how to maximize the talent on his team. Sixth, the players are no longer new to Gibbs. Seventh, the loss of Smoot should be made up for by the acquisition of Rogers (who, even though raw, is probably more gifted and a better fit for Williams' defense than Smoot). Eighth, the loss of Pierce is made up for by the return of Arrington and the rise of Marshall. I don't think this was the "toughest offseason." Although we didn't know it at the time, the 2000 offseason was the toughest - it raised our expectations (considering we went to the playoffs the year before), messed with the cap, cost us "development time" of younger players, and hurt the Redskins' good name in the eyes of the football "experts." dirtbag2112 06-11-2005, 09:28 AM Daseal...you Have Waaay Too Much Time On Your Hands. Daseal 06-11-2005, 10:31 AM Uh, that post took like 15 minutes at the most. Most of it is quoting, which takes a lot of space. mizzo skins man 06-11-2005, 05:40 PM Don't let them beat you down Daseal. mizzo skins man 06-11-2005, 05:44 PM I think that it is good that everybody in the media thinks that were going to stink again. That takes the pressure off. I really like the feel of this off-season. |
