So much for the expectation that initial bids would be over 7

Smells of Bezos hanging back to see what opposition he had rather than unnecessarily overpay. Smart poker player.

I'd support 99.99% of anyone in the world buying the team if they did this.

That's all an owner should do. Their job should be to hire competent people, get the fuck out of the way, and give those people the best resources to be successful.

That's a great owner.

If Bezos does that, then I'm all for him buying the team.

My only worry with Bezos is: he doesn't need the money, the profit from this team would pretty much be pocket change for him... so wouldn't he be buying a shiny toy and tend to meddle more than we expect?
Ie this video (https://youtu.be/NSNXBvpLb9o?t=112) has me worrying he's not just a pragmatic business man, but also an egotistical maniac.

I understand the counter points to that are: no one can be worst than Snyder ; he has proven he knows how to generate profit ; he'd have other business to do than pick a QB or even a coach... I'm just not sure those are guarantees.

I don't think how much money the guy has affects the amount he will meddle and start playing fantasy football with real players. After all, Snyder wasn't exactly loaded when he got here and that didn't stop him

The counter point that concerns me is what if they get bought by a guy/group who are leveraged to the extreme to buy the club but then don't have the cash to run it well, such as stadium costs and putting aside guaranteed money for players contracts. In theory the NFL should ensure that when they approve a new owner that that is not the case, but has me a little nervous. Besos was a good prospect from that perspective but Dans hatred of the Washington Post maybe be such that he will reject the opportunity to make an extra $0.5b.

The $ and stadium points are solid ones. Maybe Bezos objectively is a good candidate, I intellectually understand all the positive boxes he checks, part of me just have this hunch/fear that he also has the potential to be an ego freak who wants a big shiny toy.

Anyway we don't have a say, and won't know for sure what kind of owner(s) we get until we see him/them in action. And I wouldn't count him out yet, if he really wants this team he'll offer enough to get it, waiting to see what other bidders are ready to pay makes sense.

Could argue ANY potential billionaire owner is going to have some kind of down side, if only by their very nature. To expend the time, focus and energy to build up such a fortune takes a certain kind of mentality and associated behaviours. Some of them know their limitations in the football talent space so leave their GM's and coaches to make the big decisions, but I doubt there's any team out there with a billionaire owner that doesn't meddle to some extent. The key difference with Snyder is he probably still believes he knows football even after all his failure.

Jones is worse than Snyder .. he actually thinks he is a head coach ! I know we all loath Snyder but we gotta hope we don’t end up with another crap situation..

Not disagreeing per se, but at least Jones has played football to a high level. Snyder is just a wannabe.

Money can change all that.
