Ron maybe a nice guy, but he had no fucking business being final say especially with the roster. Complete clown with his decisions
He handed us one of the worst season in franchise history.
Sorry, Jay Gruden was a better coach
Jim Zorn was a better coach!!

BaltimoreSkins 01-09-2024, 07:52 AM You misread it bro. Jesus Christ.
I am just a guy lost in the forest trying to see the trees.
GridIron26 01-09-2024, 08:00 AM sarcasm bro sarcasm
Lol my bad.. Sometimes it's tough to tell if someone on here is being sarcastic or not.
I don’t hold 4-13 against Ron this season as much as I would in one of his previous seasons. Harris, all of us, and the entire Washington football universe including the ghosts of Redskins past, wanted 100% clarity this year that his tenure was over. When Sweat and Chase were dealt, Ron understood that he was a dead man walking and that the point of this season was to tee up draft position and picks for a new regime.
In this view, Ron coached this year exactly how he was supposed to and succeeded magnificently, securing the #2 pick. As the expressions go, he fell on his sword, took one for the team, and was a gentleman right to the end. Thanks, Ron, job well done. Now go enjoy your 7 million. I mean it, I really do.

BaltimoreSkins 01-09-2024, 08:55 AM Incorrect. It is a smart move. They wait to see if he gets hired as a HC, if he does, we get a pick in 2025 I believe under the NFLs minority hire/development program. If we just cut him loose, we wouldn't. We can always cut him loose later if he isn't picked up.
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/nfl-compensatory-picks-for-minority-coaches-and-executives-explained
The employer-club shall be eligible to receive this Draft choice compensation if:
a. The minority employee hired as a Head Coach or Primary Football Executive has been employed by the employer-club for a minimum of two full seasons; and
b. The minority employee is not the Head Coach or Primary Football Executive of the employer-club and is hired into the same position with the new club. There can be no break in employment between clubs.
The word and instead of or is confusing to me. EB could fall under b but doesn't meet the a.
AnonEmouse 01-09-2024, 09:35 AM I thought the argument on keeping EB around at least until spring, is that anyone wanting to sign him has to compensate us because he's under contract, not because of the minority rules?
On RR I think part of his problem was his desire to stick by his staff as far as possible. He stuck with Turner longer than he should have and had to be virtually forced to sack JDR et al. I think loyalty is an admirable trait, but a HC has to do what's best for a team rather than for his friends. That often means being ruthless even with long time buddies.

Parting ways with Kyle Smith
In the 2019 Redskins draft room, Kyle Smith (director of college scouting) asked the room whom they were going to draft at No. 15? Sources have agreed there was silence, and one voice finally answered: the owner himself. The choice was going to be Dwayne Haskins.
Smith reportedly proceeded to implore the room to please consider drafting one of three players. But the owner had spoken.
Rivera was hired the following January. Smith basically constructed the draft board and led the room through the draft. Rivera was pleased and publicly praised Smith for his leadership in that draft.
But in later months of that 2020 season, Rivera grew cold toward Smith; not praising him, nor even mentioning him. Rivera determined instead to hire Marty Hurney and Martin Mayhew.
Yes, Rivera got what he wanted, but he also lost what he had. In Smith, he had a young man, full of energy and a voracious work ethic. He also possessed, in Smith, the one man who carried courage in the organization to tell Rivera and Snyder what they needed to hear.
Smith understandably departed following the 2020 season. In all three drafts (2021-23) Smith would clearly not have drafted as Rivera and the Marty’s did. Do you think Smith would have reached on Jamin Davis at No.19? Valuing draft choices, can you even imagine Smith trading up for a long snapper (Camaron Cheeseman)?
Chief X_Phackter 01-11-2024, 05:48 PM I don't understand the love for Kyle Smith. He left here three years ago. Some were clamoring for him to be the GM here in 2021, and guess what, he's still an Assistant GM. In 2021 he drafted TE Kyle Pitts, CB Richie Grant, OL Jalen Mayfield, and Darren Hall in the first four rounds. Other than Pitts, they all suck.
His drafts with the Falcons aren't impressive. K Pitts, D London, and B Robinson are good, but I don't feel like we've missed much.

He was so shitty that the 49ers wanted him but lost to the Falcons.

Man, you don't have a middle ground. Seems like you either really like someone or think they're an asshole lol.
