"The Commanders have agreed to terms with Adam Peters to be GM, but the contract isn't signed yet. They'll evaluate current GM Martin Mayhew (who AP worked with in San Francisco), exec Marty Hurney, and the scouting dept. in the coming days.

Some wiggle room on titles ...

... But the idea in naming Peters, a younger exec, GM and not president of football ops could be to create the chance to promote him again down the line if things go well. Either way, Peters will lead the football operation."

And numerous playoff runs where we won 5-8 to end the season only to get bounced in the first round in noncompetitive games!
