Bye Week Coming Up

I know I'm jumping the gun a little, especially with all of us so antsy waiting for 9:00 to get here. However, after tonight's game the Redskins go into a bye week, which at first and still do think is way too early to have.

But with Jansen, Noble, Jacobs (still on the mend), Ryan Clark, and of course Hall all still injured this may be just the thing we need to get these guys near if not 100%. My only concern is that there are sure to be more nagging injuries to mount as the season wears on and we'll have to just play through them. Not to mention if we beat Dallas tonight the bye could be somewhat of a momentum killer.

I would have like to seen the bye come somewhere around the seventh or eighth game of the season. Do you guys think we have put too much stock in the bye weeks since they've started having them or could this impact our team later down the road? During the 80's and the 90's the Redskins and other teams would just roll right through the season injuries and all.

I just think it's a horrible time to have one. The only positive for us, as I said earlier, is that the other guys get to recoup some.

Never mind the team, what about the fans?

I won't know what to do with myself.

That's actually the biggest downside, IMO:)

I'm spending the weekend, starting Friday, in the outer banks.

I saw the schedule when it first came out and decided that I had to do something, or I'd go crazy.

During the 80's teams had more depth because there was no cap. There wasn't a huge drop off from your 1st stringer to your 3rd stringer except in cases where your first stringer was a HOFer. At least on the teams that had a clue, which the Skins did, this was the case. I do think the 3rd week bye is way too early for any team and generally unfair. It makes no sense to me why they don't run the byes from week 5 to 12 instead of 3 to 10.

And it will be just our luck the injury bug will hit us around week seven or some crap!!

You wonder whether the players, who are aware they have an extra week to recover, don't put forth extra effort before a bye week. I'm sure that's just my hope, considering our situation right now, but I'd like to think we're going to leave nothing in the tank tonight.
