H-Back Problem???

Does anyone know why we let Sellers go the first time?? Was it because of 'OBC??

I think the Browns signed him to a richer deal than the FO thought he was worth. Didn't he get busted with pot and a weapon while he was in Cleveland?

This is true... who gives a damn. He is going to be great in this position. I was very impressed with his play under Norv. He is a real blocking fullback with good hands and a nose for the endzone.

One thing about Gibbs old system, while he does like the one back - two tight end formation, he uses multiple formations and alot of shifting. He does not stay in one formation for long. He likes to try and confuse the defense with multiple sets.
Then as the game progresses he will go with what is working. So I think all this worry about the H-back and tight end positions is over kill. They just need to be good blockers.
The QB, WR's and RB position is the most important to Gibbs system. The reason is his pass plays have many sight adjustments. On a certain percentage of pass plays Gibbs will call a formation and a play, but depending on what type of defense the DB's are playing, will dictate the route the WR will run. This is not an audible, because the QB or the WR's do not communicate the route before the snap, like in an audible. The WR has the option of running one of two routes. If the DB plays man to man defense the WR runs certain predetermined route. If the DB plays zone he runs another predetermined route. One of two options. This takes great skill and concentration so the QB and WR are on the same page. It is very easy to look bad. But when it works....watch out!
Oh, they determine what defense the DB's are playing by using alot of motion before the snap. Gibbs system has alot of motion. It is a complex offense, which is why Gibbs prefers a veteran QB.

Since we've had long tlaks about trading Ramsey and training a rookie, have you ever seen a better QB that Payton manning at calling audibles and shifting formations? If his brother is anythign like him, then thats the type of QB that you want under Gibbs system. Part of it was the olines fault, but Ramsey doesnt have a handle on audibles yet, its juts kinda like he saying im going to get killed with this play, try somethign else quick.

I dunno. I think Spurrier's ideas about audibles may have been different than everybody elses. I often wondered why they bothered to huddle, it seemed spurrier's system was designed for the quarterback to call the play at the line; whereas everyone else in the league uses audibles mainly as a "check-off" system. Again, let's see how Ramsey does in a more standardized system before we go judging his ability to audible.

Actually, I read somewhere that he regularly attends Peyton's football camp and tries to emulate his abilty to audible. I could be wrong on that one.

BTW - I had always liked Sellers and was sorry to see him go the first time around. I thought he was a brute in the backfield. I bet he does great in the H-Back spot.

I think I read he works with Payton too.
