NEver saw him play, but heard interview with him and even at 90 he was hilarious. I hope he pulls through!

Sammy Baugh has had an extraordinary life. I hope it is not nearing an end. My thoughts and prayers are with him and the Baugh family.

Even though I've never seen Sammy Baugh play, i've heard about what he did. I hope he doesn't pass before we make the playoffs at least. My thoughts and prayers go to his family.

Best quote from him was when he was asked about the 72-0 beating the Skins took from the Bears in the 1940 Championship game...

Reporter: "What would have been the result if you would have gotten that touchdown in the first quarter?"

Sammy: "We would have lost 72-7."

lol

I had the quote and story wrong.

Here it is:
Still the 1942 Title Game against Chicago we lost 73-0

In the final minutes, the Redskins drove seventy-five yards to the six-inch line, only to have Baugh's final pass intercepted by the Bears, crushing the Redskins' hopes of scoring at least six points before the final gun.

In the dressing room after the game, Baugh reflected on the team's humiliating defeat. "Maybe if we could have gotten that touchdown at the end," he ventured, "it would've turned the tide!"
