manyou are exactly right, how can anyone say it was a good call when we lost the game? if we do the rollout you either run for it,make a safe pass,or take the sack, brunells been making great descisions all yr so he's probably not going to make a mistake,we made a lot of mistakes during the game but if you make that first down the game is over,so how anybody can say that was the right call when it didnt work and it cost us the game just boggles my mind

I don't understand that logic. Because it didn't work doesn't make it the wrong call. If we were down by one with five seconds left, 4th down, John Hall comes out for the game-winning 25 yard field goal and the kick is blocked....does that make it the wrong call?

Not only that, but when you're averaging 5.6 yds a carry ALL game, its the most logical thing to do. Run it!!! Especially if you're trying to burn the clock.

I really don't understand why we needed to pass in that situation. If anything, Gibbs ran it because if he wouldn't have made it....he had his defense to stop them. But that didn't happen either.

Can't blame a loss on one freaking play man.

Htown is right, and here's why, we are lousey at running the ball on short yardage plays, we have been since Gibbs took over, when a defense is prepaired for short yardage against us they almost alway's stop us, that is why you go to some kind of a roleout option, if they stop us then they stop us on a play we are very strong and successful at running, like our 4th and 2 rollout pass to Cooley earlier in the game, the fact that we went to our weekest offensive play in the most crucial part of the game makes it the wrong call, if we were a team that consistantly grinds out the tough yards running than it's a good call, but we are not so it's not a good call in that situation, we mixed the pass and the run all game, but in crunch time we go away from what made us successeful and go with the weekest part of our game, a short yardage run. I knew it was going to happen before he ran it, I was hoping he would surprise me, but he didn't surprise me, or the Eagles.

now your being redicilous,2 totally different situations, they dont apply to each other at all,of course you kick the fg,I dont understand your logic?
we did a lot of things wrong in this game so i dont know if you can pin the loss on just 1 play, but the topic of this thread is did gibbs make the right call on that play, since the play failed miserably and we lost the game because of it,I would have to say it was the wrong call, hindsight is always 20-20,but before that play was ran i was praying dont run it,dont run it,{just dont do the straight handoff}and if we would have tried another play besides running and it failed,I wouldnt have been happy about it becuse I want the play to succeed, but i would have been satisfied by the call not being predictable,if gibbs or musgrave calls just about any other play besides the straight handoff on that play and it would have failed and this same question is posted,I would say it was the right call,as others have noted,we did the same thing against the eagles, didnt work, but mcnabb bailed us out, this time we werent so lucky

I can't believe it's Wednesday, and people are still whinning about this stupid 3rd and 2 call. It was the right call, case closed. Let me put it in perspective. Which would you rather do. Force your offense to go up against the # 1 defense in the league? Or allow your defense, which happens to be one of the better defenses in the league, go up against a young inexperienced quarterback? Honestly, if you're a coach in that situation, it's a no-brainer call. You run on 3 and 2. This isn't playstation or Xbox.

But that's where all the GREAT coaches come from!!!
