Does anyone know why they took 10 seconds off the clock at the end of the first half? During that abysmal 2-minute drill, there was a false start on the Skins with about 17 seconds left. After the penalty was called, the refs took 10 seconds off the clock. Any idea why?

I wondered the same thing. But like you said the whole drill was abysmal. I mean that screen to Jacobs was just awful.

Was it you that said in another thread that Jacobs just looks lost out there? Either way, I agree. I'm inclined to make Farris the number 2. When is Thrash coming back anyway?

I think that's the rule, after a penalty they run off 10 seconds when it's under 2 min. Something like that.

Yeah, I did. It's not just his routes - he doesn't seem to be able to track the ball and know where he is on the field at the same time, either. Did you see his shot in the endzone? I know he can't make every play, but if you are going to miss the catch, at least catch the ball out of bounds or keep your feet inbounds and miss the catch. OK - that may not make much sense, but my point is that I didn't see fundamentals, much less execution, from him.

Ah - OK, that sounds familiar. Thanks!

The 10-second runoff rule has two parts:

# (1) After the two-minute warning of either half, while time is in, if the score is tied, or the team in possession is behind in the score and the offensive team has exhausted its legal timeouts, an additional timeout may be requested and granted for an injury. However, the ball shall not be put in play until the time on the clock has been reduced by ten seconds.

# (2) During the last minute of either half and with the clock running, any foul by the offense for false start, illegal shift or illegal motion without the offensive team coming to a complete stop will have a ten-second runoff.
