Arizona stadium - our home away from home?BigSKINBauer 12-12-2005, 12:05 AM yeah i noticed that. lol there were more steeler fans than cardinal fans. Really that must suck to have such a fan base Dirtbag 12-12-2005, 02:08 AM Also, Arizona is such a great vacation spot, and it's so easy to get Cards tickets, that visiting fans always show up in droves, no matter what game. Nevertheless, there were a TON of Skins fans there today. Awesome sight. jamf 12-12-2005, 03:35 AM I was at the game with my dad and brother. It was a redskins home game. Tempe is a great place to visit for a football game. I've been several times and have not seen one fight. The atmosphere is friendly. its a college stadium. all around the stadium are restaurants and shops. no need to tailgate before the game or leave the stadium after the game and meet your friends somewhere. you can just show up around the campus and party. they have great food. lots of bars. its like a street scene around the stadium. did i mention its safe? you can take your family and have a great time. its really a shame they are going to move to a new stadium next season. Im going to miss eating fish tacos before the game. go to the game. then go to hooters after the game all without walking a mile in total distance... man i had a great time. btw, ASU student(the female ones) are some of the hottest women ever! Luxorreb 12-12-2005, 03:45 AM I lived in Tempe for about 6 months during the offseason back in 97. It's ridiculous Tempe, AZ gets a team and other places don't. There is no fanbase since the Cards haven't been there long enough. Most everyone I knew there was from back east and fans of other teams. If they were from out west and lived in Tempe they usually had no interest in football. Pics are awesome BigSkin and thanks to all those who screamed, yelled and chanted to ensure a victory and still a small playoff hope! I'm going to the game Sunday at home against Dallas and PROMISE to lose my voice! It's Dallas week everyone for the first time in 15 years!!! Let's get Fed Ex rocking like RFK!!! dblanch66 12-12-2005, 11:47 AM blanch do you know of any specific reason to why there were that many fans? are there a lot in california?? Also i know you had to do the "we want dallas" after the game right? No idea. I was very surprised. In all of the bars in downtown Tempe, there were Skins fans friggin' EVERYWHERE! I know there are a LOT of Skins fans in SoCal because I watch the games every week at Hollywood Billiards with about 50! But that stadium was PACKED with Skins fans! These dudes next to us had a big sign with a picture of Santana Moss wearing a Santa outfit that said: "Santana Claus". Funny shit! dblanch66 12-12-2005, 11:48 AM And yes.... I participated in the chant... :dallas: skindogger47 12-12-2005, 01:12 PM I feel like with so many fans there we should have crushed them. It must have been sweet to watch Sean Taylor fly all over the field and Rogers crushing receivers with a stadium full of Skins fans. RDSKN73 12-12-2005, 01:14 PM It was FILLED with Skins Fans -- I was there and every year we play here. It was Great -- Cardinals Fans were SHOCKED at the overwhelming Fans we had there. Not a great game, but we managed to "prevent" a loss finally. What is up with the play calling -- so boring and predictable -- and Brunell was horrible....PUT THE ROOKIE IN !!! redrock-skins 12-12-2005, 01:26 PM USA Today commented that there was a large contingent of Skins fans in Tempe. While I thought a decent number could show up out there, even that many surprised me. I can understand the Cowboys, Raiders or even the Bears and Packers (due to the large number of midwest snowbirds and retirees out there), but even that many was a very pleasant surprise. I listened to the game on Sirius and could clearly hear cheers everytime the Skins did something good. regulus 12-12-2005, 01:37 PM I had 50 yard line seats and was about 15 rows back. It was my first redskins game EVER! It was awesome. I think Salave'a was leading the charge on the sidelines a few times. We definitely represented and we drowned out the sorry Cardinals fans. The Brown return was beautiful, he was close to breaking it the last time since the Cardinals sent everything on the other side. Go Skins! |
