| Re: Trayvon Martin Case I have been back and forth on this since it started. If Zimmerman did act on "racial" motivation, then he should be convicted to the fullest. If however he was acting in self defense then he should be let go. my issue with this whole thing is the medias and other groups using this as a platform for their own agendas. Al sharpton, Jessie jackson only seem to show their faces when anything is potentially "racially motivated" A CNN writer (who is black) wrote a couple very interesting pieces regarding this case. Pointing out that most of the black men that are killed in america, or murdered in America are done so by other black men. Close to 85% i believe was the number of black men are killed by black men. So my question, where is Jessi Jackson and Al Sharpton standing up for the rights of those innocent men killed. Where are they when videos are all over the web of black men beating the crap out of a white dude and robbing him, ripping his clothes off, where are they demanding justice for that kid, or demanding those kids be arrested?? I remember the "rich, silver spoon fed white boy" remarks by Al Sharpton when it was the Duke Lacross kids being charged with rape. Finally the girl confessed to making the whole story up. Never once have I heard an apology PUBLICALLY from either of the rights activists. Sometimes I think they raise more race tensions than what would really be raised if they didn't come preaching their own agendas. I'll say it again, if Zimmerman killed this poor kid out of hate, then he deserves every bit of justice (legal or street) that comes his way. However, publically convicting a man before ALL of the evidence is collected and presented is a crime in itself. Unfortunately it took the death of a teen for all the media, social outlets, activists, and whoever else to use this as a platform for their own agendas and to get their faces in the media. That is horrible regardless of race or color of a teen kid. |

| They wouldn't have said anything if Zimmerman was black

| Re: Trayvon Martin Case At least it wasn't Farrakahn. Where's he been holed up anyway? He used to have some hateful things to say back in the day.

| Re: Trayvon Martin Case Yes. my sentiments exactly. If Trayvon Martin had shot and killed Zimmerman, he would be getting praised laid on him right now. No charges would be filed, and it would be a done deal.

Edit: Well, except maybe in cases where people kill their abusers. That tends to be a gray area.

| Re: Trayvon Martin Case Where do Sharpton and Jackson actually preach? I remember years ago Sharpton use to be a good preacher. I have not heard him in awhile. It seems like all they want now is money and publicity. I have heard Jackson going up to NASCAR and saying to give the rainbow coalition money or else he will go public about being racist. Its a shame that they dont want to live the dream of the Martin Luther King Jr. speech.

| Re: Trayvon Martin Case Trayvon Martin was dead nearly a full month before Al Sharpton and others got involved. I'm no Sharpton apologist by a long shot, but this was very much a grass roots movement via social media that brought attention to this murder case. It wasn't any one personality or media figure that got the ball rolling, anyone following the case closely would know that. As a matter fact, it was a white guy that works for Russell Simmons )(forget his name) who was one of the first to shine a national spotlight on it until the media would started asking the right questions. As far as black on black crime is concerned, *sigh* that's a completely different conversation and has nothing to do with Trayvon Martin or this particular incident. |

| Re: Trayvon Martin Case I may be off, but some of you seem to have a problem with the fact that black leaders stood up and beat the drums of justice for Trayvon and his family. |

| Re: Trayvon Martin Case Some of you aka me? I just feel like they get involved in it because it suits their cause. Do they have more intimate knowledge of the case than we do? No. I feel they should withhold judgement on the situation until all the facts are known. Instead they jump in as soon as the story goes national and get everybody riled up over it. As far as I'm concerned, they should just be lumped in with the national media that has their own agenda behind the story. |
