that was some awesome running,I'd never seen joes college footage before,but i watched his games with the skins,and although he had some moves,I never saw him do anything like those college highlights,some of those moves looked like barry sanders,I guess his best moves were behind him by the time he fot to the shins,I remember the mnf game when he was playing for baltimore,unbelieveble game,how did we get him from baltimore anyway?

That clip is great!

Did anyone realize he lost about 4 or 5 yards on the first punt return? Like Barry Sanders, even his bad plays were great.

I believe we signed him as a free agent in 1981 right? Even back then we were poaching other teams' players

My favorite memory of Washington is the regular season game against oakland in '83. He was running down the sideline and doing one of his spin, dance, backwards/sideways/forwards jukes and essentially did a 360 pivot and ends up standing still with 3 or 4 raiders staring at him, waiting to tackle him but afraid to make a move 'cause they didn't want to be faked out of their jockstraps. Nobody moves for a couple of seconds until all the tacklers realize that they are all just standing there and so they start in on JW together and joe just steps out of bounds. Then they cut to Joe Gibbs who is LAUGHING hard on the sidelines.

Wow. Great clips. That run when he just hurdled over a defender like it was nothing was amazing.

joe washingtons run with that screen pass against the raiders was definitly his best moment as a redskin. pretty much towards the end of his career when he came to washington

Remember that game against the Giants when Joe Washington ran one way into a pile of traffic, stopped on a time and cut all the way across the field and into the end zone. And Theismann laid down that block to clear his path? That was awesome

Little Joe was an exciting back. I think the night he had vs. the Patriots in 1978 was one of his greatest all purpose games. He threw a TD, caught a TD and had a 90 yard run for the game winner at New England had just tied the game.
