| Your Opinion on this Draft Scenario... What would be your choice if the draft turns out like this 1. Raiders- Jamarcus Russell 2. Lions- Brady Quinn 3. Browns- Joe Thomas 4. Buccaneers- Calvin Johnson 5. Cardinals- Gaines Adam 6. Redskins- ????????? Okay here's the options 1. Amobi Okoye 2. Alan Branch 3. Jamal Anderson 4. Laron Landry Now there are some trade offers too... 1. Atlanta- 8th and 75th overall for the 6th (ATL takes Landry) 2. Buffalo- 12th overall and 43 overall for the 6th and 143rd overall or 12, 74th, 92nd and 184th overall for 6th overall (BUF takes Peterson) |

| Re: Your Opinion on this Draft Scenario... If the draft fell the way you say here - - even though I'd be surprised if it did - - I'd take the Atlanta trade offer to go down to #8 and pick up the #75 pick. The reason I'd do that is because I'd then try to trade the #8 pick to some other team who wanted to move up - - and in the process pick up yet another pick in rounds 2/3 for this year. If your scenario is correct and I make that trade and ATL takes Peterson, the Vikes are drafting at #7. They are reportedly in love with Gaines Adams (already gone) and Jamal Anderson (still on the board); assume for a moment they take Anderson. So a team that covets Landry (not a position the Skins should spend a high draft pick on) or Branch (not one of my favorites) or Joe Flabeetz would now be motivated to come to the Skins and try to grab that #8 pick... And hence I'd start to rebuild the 2007 draft that was so horribly traded away last season.

| Re: Your Opinion on this Draft Scenario... I think a lot of us can agree that the best case scenario would be to try and squeeze out all the good picks we can. I know that sounds pretty obvious, but I think a lot of some dreamers still think trading up is a good move. I hope we're impressed with some well executed draft musical chairs. I'm not sure if that makes any sense at all, but it has kind of a nice ring to it. Never mind.

Bobby Petrino coached Okoye at Louisville though, that one would make sense. Landry would make sense for them too. | |

Buffalo holds picks 12, 43, 74, 92, 111, 184, 222, 239. Looks weird to a Redskins fan for a team to actually have a whole host of draft picks, but there it is.

| Re: Your Opinion on this Draft Scenario... Thanks SC Skins. So we could do something like this? Possible Draft: Round 1 (12th): DE Jarvis Moss (he's my flavor of the week, probably won't go that high though) Round 3 (74th): OG Josh Beekman Round 3 (92nd): DT (don't know who) Round 5 (133rd-our own pick): DB CJ Gaddis? Round 6 (166th-our own pick): ILB Nate Harris Round 6 (184th): SS (don't know who) Round 6 (189th-from Bears): TE (some big blocker dude) Round 7 (our own pick): WR Keeley Hazell

However, if I was the GM, I would just make the Okoye selection at 6. I wouldn't risk trading spots with his college coach and ending up stuck at 8 and being forced to trade down again. If we are going to pass on Okoye, I would want to trade down into the bottom half of the round and try to get Branch, Justin Harrell, or even Carriker if he falls there. It's tough to expect teams more than 10 picks below you to come up with enough value to warrent a trade up. I don't see it happening. So I'd just grab Okoye at 6, unless I thought that Atlanta was going with Landry regardless.

Yes, that's the same Jason Peters that became a future pro bowl LT in Buffalo. Speath is exactly what we are looking for. It may take some luck to have him fall all the way to us in the 5th, but he's the kind of guy I would be willing to trade up into the 4th for. He's a great run blocker and a great pass blocker. He's slow, but he still runs decent routes and can catch the ball, so having him on the field is not a liability. If we got Okoye and him in the same draft, I just...I just might take a week off from posting. Certainly he would boost the running game more than Calvin Johnson would, and we wouldn't have to keep Cooley in on passing plays anymore. We could put Cooley in the slot and let him run a quick in route or something on 3rd down. I'm sure we know a little bit about him already from going over film of Montgomery from last year.

| Re: Your Opinion on this Draft Scenario... The trade with Buffalo would be great. I figure out of 8 picks we should be able to get 2 that contribute in their rookie season. Also, I'd like to get Carricker, but 12 is a bit of a reach.

| Re: Your Opinion on this Draft Scenario... Why does every think that Carriker is a reach at 12 or that he might fall to the end of the first round? He very well won't make it past San Francisco at #11 as he is one of the few DEs in this draft who is big enough to play end in a 3-4 scheme. If the Skins could fall to 12 and have a shot at any of the top DLmen who might fall there (Carriker, Okoye, Branch being the most likely...with Kirwan's latest mock having Branch still available there) that would be pretty sweet, especially if it also got us a high second or two thirds. Hopefully the Bills would be interested in making such a move to get Peterson (probably) as that is the first sensible trade I've heard yet. Not sure it is really all that great for Buffalo, though, so maybe it won't go down or maybe it would end up being like the 12th, a 3rd, and the 2008 3rd round pick they got from BMore in the McGahee trade.
