all true and all good points but i'll say this , smoot played pretty good in greg williams system and i would hope he will again. smoot did not "fit in" the minn. defense, they play the tampa two. smoot should be the skins #3 cb (maybe #2) carlos was thrust into the #1 spot and he clearly was not ready for it but i do think he learned plenty while being the #1 guy and i think he will rebound nicely this year and be the #2 guy (maybe #3) springs is definately a question mark. if he stays and if he's healthy he will be the teams #1 cb and IMO he's a top 5 corner when healthy. i don't know much about macklin either but a few teams offered him more money than the skins so i'm guessing he's a pretty good corner. overall i think the skins are in good shape in the cb area.

| Re: Eh Yo, Skins On The Clock I have heard some draft analysts say that if Brady Quinn is off the board the Vikings could take Landry at 7. Moving up to 6 would pretty much guarantee ATL could get him.

4 or 5 years ago Springs might have made it into the top five, but even in tip-top shape, he doesn't quite make it today. I agree with you though, our secondary is as good as it's going to get. We're set there -- but let's wait to see if the coaching staff agrees. | |

if i was chosing who to take for the future of my franchise , i'd take one of the younger guys but for next season i'd take springs, he already knows the system. btw, irrational fan-logic almost always gets the best of me

| Re: Eh Yo, Skins On The Clock We really need to stop making ridiculous draft trades. We spent two second rounders on Mcintosh who might not even start this year. We lost our thrid and fourth picks for a running back we didnt need and a reciever with like 30 cathces. If we make a move I hope it is intelligent. Getting Briggs helps nothing. We dont get a pass rush and gain a cover 2 LB who we would still have to pay a truck load of money. Worst this makes Mcintosh a bench warmer who we already wasted picks on. NO Linebacker is worth moving down 25 spots for...maybe Merriman that is it. We tried to play a linebacker out of position before with Trotter years ago and it blew up in our face. Overall briggs deal would be a bad move. |
