| How accurate are inside sources? This is my first draft where i have been a true football fan who is knowledgeable, has followed the coverage, and knows whats up. Therefore I dont know how accurate all these inside sources are. Is Detroit really sold on Gaines Adams, is Cleveland really sold on Brady Quinn, ect... Should i beleive reporters who write that an inside source says that their team is going to pick somebody, should i take it with a grain of salt, or should i take it into consideration but not take it seriously. Basically what im asking is how reliable have inside sources been in the past. |

It's an easy way to sort reality from fiction. Most of the things that happen in the draft were already reported as rumors before, but sometimes the accurate rumors get buried by less logical smokescreens. In 2005, everyone thought the Dolphins would draft Ronnie Brown, and then a rumor circulated that the Fins werent fond of him at all, so everyone took him off their mocks, and lo and behold they drafted him 2 overall.

| Re: How accurate are inside sources? No matter what the pundits say, nobody knows what the hell is going to happen on Saturday. Teams usually have more than one need, and usually float statements and rumors that they're enamored with more than one player. Take us for example, if given the choice between Landry and Okoye, none of us knows what the Skins are going to do. Okoye might make logical sense, but that logic is based upon the premise that we know how GW plans to use each of them. Truth is, nobody knows how the players would fit the scheme better than GW, so what makes sense to you may not make sense to him. I think it'd be Okoye, but I don't know for sure. Inside sources hear things, but a lot of the time it's smokescreen. It's very difficult to sort the fact from fiction. Nailing the first round in a mock draft is just as hard as getting your entire bracket correct in the NCAA tourney, it's damn near impossible. |

| Re: How accurate are inside sources? As someone who deals on daily basis with several "inside sources" my best advice is the same that others have given "take it with a grain of salt, use your own judgement, etc." For every rumor the general public hears (from us at least) there are 20 that are deemed not valid enough to disclose publicly. Ask Gmanc or SGG how many times I'm telling them "you won't believe what I just heard" Unfortunately, the need for constant information doesn't allow these sources to be as discretionary as they'd like but the majority of rumors you hear have substance to them. But people change their minds from one day to the next, and at this time of year from one minute to the next.
