3:10 to Jordy-ville!

Hop on the 3:10to Jordy-Ville, cuz that's where its a stoppin!

Jordy Nelson is not going to make it past Minnesota at #74, which is the 3rd round - 10th pick, and we pick at #85. Unless we trade up (which we won't do because we lose draft picks, and I have been saying that we need to keep all of them for the longest) or pick Nelson late in the 2nd round, our chances for drafting one of the more blatantly hidden talents in the draft will be slim.

Jordy is to being a Redskins Core Player, as Neo is to being The One! Jordy is a Redskin Core Player, he just doesn't know it yet.

He has all the intangibles that we all know Joe Gibbs would have loved. He is 6'2" 217lbs wide out with a 4.49 40-yard dash, a good work ethic, instincts as a route runner, great hands, great athleticism, special team skills, and, to top it all off, he is a high character Associated Press All-American who would be an absolute steal in the 2nd round to us. Furthermore, his game tape backs all of that up!

I think it will be interesting to see where he goes, but I don't really wanna see him elsewhere. We can address our need for a good WR early, while still not committing a 1st round pick to the WR spot(which we all know is dangerous). Likely here, at this position, we could take Branden Albert, if Cromartie isn't still there, in the 1st round and Jordy in the 2nd round. I would not be mad at Cromartie/Nelson or Albert/Nelson ticket after the first day.

What do you all think? Too early for Jordy in the 2nd round? Right on time. maybe? Or do we hit the pipe, play madden, and then draft a WR in the first?

Thoughts?

Re: 3:10 to Jordy-ville!

This is exactly same question I have been asking myself.. Is Jordy worth it to take in 2nd rd? For some reason, he is only WR I really want Redskins to draft.. I even looked around for other WRs with potentials but I don't have any good feelings about them except for Jordy.. I guess all we can do is wait until and see what plans Redskins made..

Re: 3:10 to Jordy-ville!

Reaching for a 'hidden talent' is generally (actually, never) a good draft strategy.

It does sound like you've slotted this thing out when you figured this out, and for that Kudos, but I think you...might...just be a bit high on Jordy here.

How about we don't take him above slot? If he's there for the third round, and no better receivers slipped to the the third, lets consider it. He seems like as far as mid round players though, he's a solid prospect. But lets not lose our heads here. If someone else takes him...whatever. They probably overvalued him anyway.

Re: 3:10 to Jordy-ville!

Maybe some of us re high on Jordy as we are not supposed to be.. But like I mentioned in earlier thread, for some reason; I have good feelings about him.. And I don't usually feel those feelings for most of players, so.. But I'm not saying that we should take him at 2nd rd.. I'm just hoping that somehow we will find a way to get him without harming our picks or whatever.. I guess that is just a dream?

I think Jordy Nelson would be a nice addition to this team.

I would say the same for about 60 other players in this draft. It's all relative to slot. If we get the compensatory 3rd rounder that people expect us to next week, I think we could get value on Nelson at that spot, provided that our more critical needs have been filled first.

3rd round only! , we already have Mix. granted relatively untested but he won't cost us a second rounder. I think it would be foolish to be that impaitent with our current WR's.

-all im saying is lets not jump the gun. there are more needy positions to consider before WR (DT,CB,OL)

WR is a critical need.

Critical need?

We definately could use one, but in the same way that we need offensive linemen to replace the 5 guys who are over thirty right now?

That would definately be a misapplication of resources. Especially since the draft is stronger on the OL than at WR.

Re: 3:10 to Jordy-ville!

Jordy Nelson would be a steal for us, only in the third round....

WE need to adress the De position 1st round DE Phllip Merling or CB Aquib Talib

2nd Round Saftey Josh Barrett or Wr Manningham

3rd Round WR Jordy Nelson or Jason Jones DE

Compensatory 3rd CB Zach Bowman

pass rush,safety wr,cb........ lb 5th / og 6th/ og-t 7th/ dt 7th

i think Jordy Nelson is going to be a good receiver, but a bit of a reach in the second round.

if we pick a receiver in the second round it should be: Malcolm Kelly, Early Doucet or Andre Caldwell alot of draft experts have them going in the second round

I would much rather wait until the 3rd round to get Nelson /Will Franklin.

Depending on who we take in the first: Harvey/Talib/Albert

i would like to see us take: DB-/Reggie Smith/Tracey Porter/

DE-Calias Campbell

RB-Chris Johnson

(I know we already have an all-pro caliber back in Portis and a quality back-up in Betts, but i think if Chris Johnson is there in the second how could we pass?)

opinions?

We don't need to waste our picks on ANY kind of running backs.. We have plenty, we already have Portis, Betts, and Rock Cartwright.. Also not to mention Marcus Mason - I believe he is better than Rock.. So we def don't need any extra RBs, unless they are undrafted free agents.. I wld be fine with it..

Oh...I don't know...maybe....constant groin pull. almost what every year? or Hammie? I love Santana but he has his injuries.

I do like Mix though. I'm betting he puts a lot of this to rest for us. Everyone is on the other side of the fence simply because he got cut from the Giants but I'm betting he's better then most of us think. He was supposed to replace one of their best WR but got cut to make room for another player in another position. I pray he teaches them a lesson come game 1.

This doesn't mean I'm not for a bigger WR though or a proven (CJ) WR.
