| Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread Yeah, we definitely don't have to worry about depth at returning kicks/punts. El, Thrash, Kelly, Thomas, Cartwright, Betts could all be used in one capacity or the other, exactly why we don't need Mathis.

| Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread Bills draft estranged son of former Utah Jazz great Malone Demetrius Bell is no longer trying to follow in the footsteps of his father -- basketball great Karl Malone -- after the two-sport college athlete was drafted by the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Nor does the swingman-turned-offensive lineman care whether "The Mailman" notices. The two have been estranged for most of Bell's life. And Bell, who switched from basketball to football three years ago at Northwestern State University, doesn't expect that to change after he was selected with the 219th overall pick. Damn, woulda been cool to have the Mailman's son on our team. Bills draft estranged son of former Utah Jazz great Malone

| Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread Well Mathis has almost zero chance of making this team. He needs an injury to another of the players to really even have a chance. The top 4 spots are taken in Moss, Randle El, Thomas and Kelly. Whether we keep 5 or 6 probably determines who gets kept.

| Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread I see Mathis getting the spot over Thrash in the end. At the first game of the ragular season I see Moss Randle El Thomas Kelly Mathis and maybe MIx But I see Thrash as the odd man out

| Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread Malcolm Kelly is supposed to be on Sirius NFL Radio in the next hour - probably more like 30 minutes since he has a press conference at 11am. If he comes on I'll try to synopsize.

| Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread I may be wrong, but I think it would've looked better if we had drafted an offensive lineman or a defensive lineman instead of Brennan even though all the good ones were gone. We've got Carson Palmer's brother left over from last year's draft, plus Hollenbach. I'm sure there are others we could've signed as a free agent. About Thrash, we needed him for special teams last year. I don't know how good the players we drafted will fit in on special teams. Zorn shouldn't depend so much on Cerrato and Snyder (but maybe he has to...). |

Mathis is a LOCK. They didn't get him just to release him. He WILL be our KR/PR specialist. The ONLY way he won't make the team is IF he has an injury to keep him out of a significant time this season.

| Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread A lot of people here are very smart. Others, are pretty stupid. If you know the inner workings of a true WCO, then you're the smarter ones. Two WR's, and a TE that has been compared to Cooley. WCO's NEED TWO STELLAR TE's. Versitle at that, as well. Cooley is TE/HBack. Davis is WR/TE Does anyone even frigging remotely understand how easy it is going to be to manipulate EVERY NFC DEFENSIVE SCHEME this year? You will. Look at tapes of the old Bill Walsh, or Air Coryell. Seriously, stop bashing. We have two new WR's, and one of them will work out. 50/50. That means we have one new WR, and a new stud TE. We will be FINE on defense. If one of those WR's don't work out, then trade for some D. Thats just me rambling on that last statement, but the WCO is not a joke. We need more talent. ARE isn't good enough for anything other than slot. 4 man line/5 wr set/2 TE (empty backfield). What do you do with that when Davis pulls out, and runs an end around to the weak side. Thats Cooley, ARE, Moss, and whoever is playing #1 on that side ****ing blocking for him..!!!? I mean, the possibilities are ENDLESS.

| Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread WE did pretty good this draft. I hope our defensive players are gamers though. We really should have used at least one second round pick for the DE or S, but we did fairly well with our picks. |
