Speaking of McShay...does anyone else find it odd that he seems to be on ESPN more then Mel leading up to the draft? Kiper seems to be so under utilized by ESPN. Not sure if thats his doing or ESPN's doing. Smoot?
from what i understand, ESPN is grooming mcshay and phasing out kiper... which lead kiper getting a little bit pissy towards mcshay when they started debating each other... which turned into them not liking each other, which lead to more venom between them...

i guess that ESPN likes their NFL gurus to be dicks to each other... and with clayton v salisbury over due to the cryptkeeper comments, they needed new guys to piss each other off...

i like them all, i guess... but, no one should put too much stock in their mocks, as i saw that last draft kiper got the most picks right out of the popular gurus, which something like 7 out of 31... my wife could probably get that many right just guessing...

They're definitely grooming McShay. But Kiper is one of the guys grooming him. I don't think they really have a problem with each other

Got ya. I guess from my perspective, it's funny how I see people off camera and what we see of them on camera can be so different. There are guys we all probably think must be great to hang out with off-camera and those we can't stand. But sometimes the exact opposite ends up being true.

What's the deal with these two? It's like ESPN is trying to have rivals on their own network and it blew up in their face w/ Sean S. and Clayton. Just silly ass games and stuff. I pretty much stayed on NFLN. I'm so over Chris Berman. And maybe you can explain this.... Trent Dilfer is good and very knowledgable, but he just comes arcoss as overly dramatic when talking about QB's and it's sooooo evident that he has a hard on for Sanchez. Just annoying....

As for Dilfer, I haven't really noticed it. Guess I haven't watched him that much.

yeah they keep trying to out do each other and agrue about players and draft grades. it's like a toned down version of clayton and sailsbury.

I mean they agree sometimes, they disagree sometimes. I guess I don't see the big deal

(I miss Salisbury)

Agree 100%. I think Mayock is the best of the three. I like them all (Kiper can be pretty annoying at times), but Mayock's superior knowledge of the game is evident right away when listening to his breakdowns.

couldn't have said it better , I'm only referring to his TV personality, don't know him personally

Re: Kiper, Mayock, or Mcshay?

I don't really want to start a new thread over this so i thought I would throw it in here. I am so annoyed by the way ESPN covers(or not covers) day 2 of the draft. ESPN spends the entire second day of the draft talking to GM's, coaches and players about what happened on day 1. And then they go back to Bristol to basically the NFL Live studio and waste more time. In the mean time picks fly by on the bottom of the screen. Then we get these quick recaps of the last 10 picks with Mel chiming in on every 3rd or 4th pick on the list. I don't understand why they can't just cover the draft...there are weeks and months ahead to talk about what happened in the first round. This has always annoyed me but now that they moved round #3 to day 2 it bothers me even more. Round 3 is filled with big name players and deserves more then updates inbetween interviews. Maybe I am the only one but it annoys me to no end...

Re: Kiper, Mayock, or Mcshay?

I prefer NFL network as a whole. They cover more of the draft itself and less of the excess. Therefore, by default, I like Mayock better because he really breaks down why he grades a player a certain way and breaks down his viewpoint with actual film of games and senior bowl practices. I wish they could offer Warren Sapp/the blonde NFL Now chick/ and a future broadcast pick in a trade for Kiper/Suzy Colbert (spelling?)!!!

You are correct. That is one reason why I watch the draft on NFLN. The other reason is that I am in love with Kara Henderson. She's not the flashiest but she has substance.
