| Re: Bowl Games: What prospects have caught your eye? Same school as Schlereth and Schlereth played for both Gibbs and Shanahan. Maybe Karma or deja vu?

| Re: Bowl Games: What prospects have caught your eye? this is the first gamei have seen tenn play this year i have only seen highlights, but watching berry live, to me, he carries himself just like sean used to, and he has that giant wingspan like sean had, he looks like he will be really good in the nfl. and ss, i hate to admit it but my hatered of vt has gotten a little bit lax, becuase watching grimm play is pretty impresive he is non stop, and i would love to see him end up here late in the draft or undrafted, his heart and fight reminds me of gerhart

| Re: Bowl Games: What prospects have caught your eye? The only thing that gives me pause about him is the success, or lack there of, of DT's picked in the top 5. Glen Dorsey is probably the most recent parallel of a guy everyone felt was going to be a world beater, but in his first two years he's been good but no where near the level he was expected to be at. However to his credit he's not necessarily a guy who was meant to play in a 3-4. Before that we see guys like DeWayne Robertson, Dan Wilkinson, Steve Etman, and Gerrard Warren. Darell Russell is the only DT I could find since 1990 that was selected to a pro bowl (which we should take with a grain of salt given the accuracy of some of those selections) as a top 5 pick. Some of those guys I listed went on to have decent careers but they were no where near the level everyone thought they would be. Ironically selections 6-15 are better for DT's. In that range we find guys like Richard Seymour, John Henderson, Marcus Stroud, Corey Simon, Tommie Harris, Albert Haynesworth, Kevin Williams, Amobi Okoye, Haloti Ngata, Brodrick Bunkley, B. J. Raji, and Sedrick Ellis. I know I have a bigger range to work with in that second group but the difference in quality is amazing. And these are the guys selected since 2000. In that same time the only bust were Jimmy Kennedy, Ryan Sims, and John Sullivan. Damione Lewis is kind of a tweener, not necessarily a bust but not a guy that should have been drafted in the top 15. Of course until recently we were saying that rookie QB's couldn't come in and be successful in todays NFL and suddenly Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan come along, in the same year no less.

| Re: Bowl Games: What prospects have caught your eye? I agree with Scud. Tebow could be great. He needs a little work but he bottom line he is a winner. If he is available in the 3rd round we take him. I also liked Mike Kafka- the QB from Northwestern. He could be an undrafted player to look at.

| Re: Bowl Games: What prospects have caught your eye? Watching the games on TV we can't always get a good look at the players who play the positions of our greatest need. We know about the one's discussed the most because they usually stand head and shoulders above others at their positions, and of course the skilled players usually get the most attention. Personally, I wanted to get a close-up look at more of the blue-chip O-linemen that for whatever reason many times go unnoticed. Even though he's not a player at a position of dire need at this time. I like LSU safety Chad Jones, he's a junior and I'm not certain as to whether he's declared his eligibility. I don't like him above three which we don't have, but later if still available providing he does not turn out to be a Landry clone. |
