Re: 2011 NFL Draft

You can't really compare guys like Namath and Bradshaw to today's standards. Different game back then, different rules, and the 16 game season didn't start until 1978. Look at any of the greats prior to 1980 or so and their numbers aren't all that impressive when compared to today's QBs.

I just think a position along the line as important as center in the ZB scheme needs a new, fresh, young guy to come in and be a long time contributer. Or at least someone younger in FA.
Cory L. at center, or Montgomery for that matter, does seem like a very possible change. I could see a camp competition, if there is one. Mike Williams will hopefully be back to play RG. Then, what about Hicks? He might be gone.

Re: 2011 NFL Draft

Interesting tidbit about this years draft. Without a CBA teams aren't allowed to trade next years picks.

Still waiting to get fired up about this draft. I haven't really been in the loop...because I haven't really tried to be.

Could we hit April before I catch draft fever? Possibly.

Great news! We're assured of having at least 8 picks next year, assuming there is a draft in 2012.

GT, sure you have an opinion about Cory L. playing center as was mentioned earlier?

Didn't we talk about that last week? Anyhow, yeah that certainly will impact what we can and can't do

NFL announces 32 compensatory picks - CBSSports.com

We pick up another 7th in compensation. Not because we lost anybody, but because no one really lost anybody and they have to give out 32 of these things, so, yeah.

Re: 2011 NFL Draft

Can they use the term "future draft pick" or "player to be named later" to get around this CBA handcuffing?

I think Denver wants Darues or to trade out.

And it looks like we get a 7th from Indy for Tryon. I had thought it might be a 6th

I'm very confused about how this works. I thought it was some formula with the net free agents lost (money wise) matched up with free agents brought in.

Arizona lost Dansby Rolle Berry (and sort of Warner). Dansby and Rolle were two of the biggest FA's available. All they signed was Joey Porter.

Why does arizona have one pick and its the 6th from last in the 7th?
