Shanahan does show a pretty extreme tendency against underclassmen though. Jarvis Moss and Ryan Clady both came out early and were first round picks by Shanahan, but you can almost be assured that the top of the Redskins board will be littered with seniors.

Basically, if there's a reason to believe that Barkley or Griffin won't be high on the Redskins board, it's because of precedent. With that said, I find it hard to believe if the Redskins pick in the top three, that neither Barkley or Griffin will be on their radar. Griffin in particularly seems like the kind of player that NFL scouts will fall in love with during the predraft process. And he's only kind of sort of an underclassman.

But it's also possible that the Rams will decide that RGIII is the greatest thing since sliced bread and take him, even though they don't exactly need a young QB.

So GTripp and SmootSmack, With the 5th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft the Washington Redskins select:

I know I was not asked but I think they will pick a position of major need. It all depends on what they do in FA. Our needs

QB
OL
FS
CB
WR (atleast 1 more)

On a side note... was it 88 that made a TD yesterday? was that Anderson? for some reason I thought the announcers said Robinson but holey cow. So WR wise we have...

Moss
Hankerson
AA
Gaffney
Stallworth- stepped up the last 2 games
Anderson

All making plays. No Banks other then the trick play and no Austin.

If Matt Barkley doesn't come out, then I think Robert Griffin is gone by no. 5, and then I think Janoris Jenkins is the pick.

I think if Matt Barkley comes out, three quarterbacks get taken in the top five, and that makes Robert Griffin the Redskins pick.

I'll point out that we cannot pick as far down the draft as no. 5 unless we win again. If the Redskins lose their last three games, they will pick fourth or higher.

So you take Janoris Jenkins over Morris Claiborne? And I think we will win one more game.

TL;DR. Anyone mention this yet?

@slmandel Robert Griffin III is "fully expected" to declare for the 2012 NFL Draft: bit.ly/tYHGvP

Janoris Jenkins is the Patrick Peterson of this draft. And there's nothing wrong with Morris Claiborne. But you know the Shanahan underclassman thing applies to him too. I see no reason he won't be incredibly highly rated on the Redskins board, but this is the 5th overall pick we're talking about.

And yeah, the Redskins are going to win again this year. I'm just not sure the fanbase is prepared for it.

He kind of reminds me of Jay Cutler.

This is phenomenal news. Now, someone needs to put a gun to Barkley's head until he declares (figuratively of course).

Interesting insight. I have Claiborne as the top CB and I see him being there at number 5 also I think Claiborne is a better "cover" guy than Peterson was coming out.

What I'd like to see and is seen on some mock draft boards is:

Barkley

What I could see happening if we lose draft position if we win another game or two?

Whoever is the best CB or best WR.
