Or he knows the team traded all that for him which shows him how much the redskins think and trust him.. he's the new face of Washington DC and the redskins. I think I'd be happy w that

Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft

This from Walterfootball.com prior to the trade:

"I've been predicting a Robert Griffin trade here ever since the regular season concluded. Adam Schefter reported two weeks ago that the Rams will be dealing this selection. They won't remain in this spot. As intriguing as Matt Kalil might be, they have way too many holes on their roster. This pick is just way too valuable to hold on to.

I had the Browns moving up here in a previous update, and they certainly could be the ones to land Robert Griffin. However, news broke this past week that Mike Holmgren is unwilling to part with the No. 22 pick to move up for Griffin.

This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Seriously. You're not willing to give a mid-first-rounder for a franchise quarterback? Are you insane? Not only should Cleveland surrender Nos. 4 and 22; it should have to trade its 2013 first-rounder and other mid-round selections in addition to that. That's the price of a franchise quarterback. If the Browns don't understand that, then they'll never be successful, and their fans should just give up.

Daniel Snyder will be desperate to land a franchise signal-caller this offseason. If he can't get Manning, he'll give the green light to outbid the Browns, Dolphins, Eagles and the other teams for Young Griff, who is perfect for Mike Shanahan's offense."

I agree with Walt. The Redskins did the right thing.

Worked out for Eli and the Giants. You have to have an elite QB in this league. Are you saying you'd rather have 3 more picks and a mediocre QB? How has that worked out the last 20 years?! My logic is UNDENIABLE!!!

So what happens if we go 5-11 next year? Which is a real possibility. Then you've got a high pick going to the Rams.

We will go 7-9 as a minimum. I think we have a shot at a wild card.

BFD. If we should happen to go 5-11 next season when RGIII is a rookie, then we'll still probably go 11-5 in 2013 with a more experienced RGIII at QB. You just don't get it, do you?

I agree. I really think they could have played this a little differently. I think the price was too high but the reality of the situation is that we are desperate. We have started 21QBs since our last Super Bowl. If we end up with another trophy then it was worth it.

They took a chance to get a QB that they want and believe in. They had to at this point, get over it. The skins have been bad at anything they have done over the years to get better, Shannahan had a good draft last year. I suppose we could have traded back like we did a few years ago and drafted two Wrs that would never amount to nothing. It was a gamble and only time will tell.

Who did we get that was any good when we got all those picks from new Orleans in the Ricky Williams trade

RG3 has first overall pedigree on the field, not to mention he might just have the best personality/character I have ever seen from a quarterback prospect.. I truly mean that.

I see less question marks with RG3, than I did with Cam Newton.. What I'm worried about are the inevitable ACL tears.

I dont see any desperation in this at all.
This is how it works in the NFL today.
If you want to win, this is what you do.
This really isnt that much different than the Jay Cutler trade.

Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft

I slightly say yes, but man it's close. Really allot to give up, but this franchise is in such dire need of a franchise QB, that I feel like we had to do it. There is a significant drop off between Luck/RGIII and everyone else... while it sounds great on paper to draft a guy in the second and have him learn for a year or two, how often does that really work out? Not saying guys never bust, but everything you see from RGIII has been gold. Not saying I'm happy about the 2 first rounders and second rounder just to move up four slots...but given way the organization has built itself the past few years, I think we're finally in a position to make this type of a deal.

We NEED to get a bigtime WR. I dont want to go nuts in free agency, except for that. Thats a must, we need a bigtime guy to come in, let Hank continue to develop and hopefully be a solid #2 who could develop into a #2 and then Moss to the slot. I think once we get a legit WR threat, we'll be so much more competitive.

So you're saying we couldn't get a good QB at #6? Or the 2nd round??? And keep the picks? Cincy got their QB in the 2nd round last year and made the playoffs. Also everyone just thinks that RG3 is going to be an automatic success. I hope like hell he is or this could REALLY set us back. It worked out for NY but they had more pieces in place than we do.
