| Re: The 2012 London Summer Olympics Thread I'm a fan of the Olympics, but not London. :P Swimming will be interesting. Lochte has been beating Phelps in a lot of exhibitions and qualifiers over the last year. It's going to be fun to watch the two teammates who are also rivals. They should both be dominating the competition. Lochte might not be well-known yet but he already has 6 medals. Phelps won't be sweeping everything this time around. Also, beach volleyball.

Have to watch out for that Aussie hurdler too. ![]() ![]() I'm becoming a dirty old man I think. As for other competition, womens' swimming will be all Missy Franklin and gymnastics will be Jordyn Weiber's. Team USA basketball is going to disappoint. They're no Dream Team. They might not lose a game but a lot of the games will be a lot closer than they should be. We should be blowing everyone out in basketball. Sure, Spain has a few NBA stars like the Gasol brothers and a few other teams have a handful of NBA players (not necessarily stars) but we have a full roster of NBA superstars and can't blow everyone out? It's a lack of effort and too much ego. We'll still win Gold, but we should. Soccer will continue to be my sleep aid.

On that note, although Olympic soccer is not as big of a deal as the World's Cup and other international competitions, I hope that our ladies put on a good showing and come home with gold.
