| Gears of War Released Today For all the X360 owners....today is the day! This game looks stunning and all of the gaming sites have given 9.5-10/10 ratings. Is this the Halo killer?

| Re: Gears of War Released Today Gears of War isn't actually a FPS, it has a third person view. And it's not nearly as much run and shoot as Halo. It's far more based on cover and tactics. I'll give a better review when I have it in my hands in a few days. My local asshat Gamestop isn't getting it until tomorrow.  |

I tend to lean more towards third person shooters, when I'm not online(Splinter Cell, SOCOM, etc). I'm a big fan of shooters that aren't so linear and allow more than one way to beat a level. If I play those type of games online, it's usually only the co-op modes, because the versus games generally turn into Halo style death matches. From what I've read about Gears of War, it's most like SOCOM, since you're in control of a squad, and tactics are important. I've also read that the co-op is very well done. | |

| Re: Gears of War Released Today Sorry dmek...it looks like some stores are getting them today (mine about 7pm tonight here in Austin, TX) and some will get them tomorrow. I will give some details in the morning. FYI - my favorite FPS is the Rainbow Six Series.

| Re: Gears of War Released Today I've recently just gotten into the whole online shooter thing. Just started playing SOCOM, tough game, I still feel like a chump. I like Star Wars Battlefront online alot too. I'm not great but I can hold my own. |
