| Re: Woman dies in Wii contest The story I read earlier didn't say if she won or not. I guess either way she lost in the end. |

It was stupid to enter a contest like that, especially with kids...but it was equally stupid to host the thing. No one on either side did any thinking in this situation. | |

| Re: Woman dies in Wii contest They have been discussing this on the radio where I live. They said that a lawsuit will follow, and they were debating whether the lawsuit will be successful. The radio station which hosted the event had the participants sign waivers. However, I don't think that will matter much, since it doesn't appear as though they informed the participants the contest could be fatal. It is a tragic story. Especially since she was trying to win the game for her kids. Sad.

| Re: Woman dies in Wii contest Regardless of waivers, whoever at the radio station signed off on that idea is retarded. That station better find better legal advice in the future when coming up with contest ideas. |

| Re: Woman dies in Wii contest Now to say that the station was not thinking is really not fair. How many people even know that one could die from drinking too much water? I didn't and I think just about everyone else would say the same thing. Its just one of those sad thing that happen. If I would have heard that a person died in a water drinking contest without knowing the cause I would think they choked on the water drowing themself. |

| Re: Woman dies in Wii contest Maybe it's geographic-centric but high school athletes around here are taught about the dangers of water intoxication (or poisoning). Football players, wrestlers and long-distance runners in particular are warned about drinking too much water. I always thought it was fairly common knowledge but I guess that's based on having several coaches throughout my childhood telling me so.
