I had a nutrition professor in college tell our class that all vitamins are basically a scam because, unless you have a specific medical condition, you should be getting everything you need from a normal diet. Then again, this guy was really overweight and his belly would routinely hang out from under his sweater, causing me and my roommate to dry-heave, so take all that with a grain of salt and some St. Johns wart.

| Re: Are vitamins dangerous? I don't like vitamins, because like AMD said, you should get your nutrients from natural, whole, and unprocessed/unrefined foods. If I want vitamin C, I drink OJ, or eat an orange. The same goes for other vitamins. I am pretty much against all manufactured foods and/or nutrients.

| Re: Are vitamins dangerous? Also, there are certain levels where vitamins can become toxic in your system and that certainly CAN cause problems. I remember when we were learning about fat soluble vitamins like A, D, E, and K that there is a chance that they could become toxic and I believe ODing on A can kill you. It would have to be huge amounts over DRI, however, it's possible...that and Vitamin C doesn't help you get rid of a cold.
