| Re: SGG's Pick the President Poll CNN: Former U.S. Sen. Fred Thompson will take a major step toward a 2008 run for the White House by "testing the waters" — beginning to raise money and hire campaign staff as early as Friday, several sources close to Thompson told CNN… This source noted that Thompson likely will make appearances in some of the early primary and caucus states such as Iowa and New Hampshire before an official announcement.

| Re: SGG's Pick the President Poll Giuliani or Paul. Either would do a great job. I think Obama's personality would be good for the position, but he really needs to take a stronger position on...well...issues. 2 years experience as a Senator doesn't exactly speak for itself.

Hey Heath Shuler is better looking the ladies say. Nominate him! lol Dems won't get the White House for a decade. They don't have a plan to get better just point at what's they say is Bad. The Nation is still leaned to the Right with morals and religion and even tho Bush has had issues the majority fears and will rally against a left wing take over. I actually hope the Dems nominate Hillary as it will give the Republicans the best chance to win as no one in this Country wants Bill back in the Oral Orafice bending over the next president. lol peace

I'm with you SGG on my views at this point, pleading the 5th. But for what logical reason would you think JE has a remote chance? I'm not sure how in tune you are with NC but the folks in his own home town hate the man. It has trickled through the SOUTH he is not well liked at all. Cancer issues with the wife, I don't think HE stands a chance.

| Re: SGG's Pick the President Poll Here's why I think Edwards is going to the next President (using my easy-to-read lists): (1) John Edwards is leading all his opponents by at least 20 friggin points in Iowa right now. Iowa definately doesn't guarantee a victory, but it gives candidates a lot of momentum heading into New Hampshire and beyond. (2) I think that the U.S. is, on the whole, ready for an African-American president, but there are enough people who won't vote for Obama because of his race to make a difference in what is going to be a tight race. Throw in his admission to using cocaine and his name (yes, even his name) and it's enough to kill his candidacy among a large enough segment of the population. (3) Bill Clinton is despised by a lot of Americans, but I know that most Americans would just about kill be back in the 1990s. Hillary's connection to "the good ole' days" are enough to make her a viable candidate. But, in the end, she is Bill Clinton minus the charisma...and Bill's charisma carried him a long way. (4) If Edwards decides to stay in the race, his wife's cancer will definately make him sympathetic to the all-important soccer-mom vote. (5) Edwards is young, bright, charismatic, Bill-esque, and very optimistic and positive. I don't even really know where he stands on most issues and maybe he doesn't even know, but superficial things go a long way in politics. (6) If Edwards doesn't have a chance in the South, do Obama or Hillary stand to fare much better? I'm not asking a rhetorical question. I actually want to know how Edwards stands in the polls in the South compared to Obama and Hillary. |

| Re: SGG's Pick the President Poll Giuliani in the lead??!! God let's hope this poll isn't indicative of the voting public. Prior to 9/11 this guy was a joke, he still is but he's been put on a pedestal by some people since 9/11. |
