Its the domino effect. Nintendo's Wii will most likely follow suit.

Sony is in a real bad situation right now. Prices are starting to drop and they are still the most expensive. Not so sure I will ever buy the new playstaion. Nintendo has really caught my eye with their new system and some of the party games look really fun.

The main reason the PS3 is so pricey is that it is also a BluRay player, and those (by themselves) usually cost around $700+.
I'd love to get a PS3 now because I like the PS2 games that I have but want to upgrade and I am a huge movie guy and I'd love to move up to the next-gen DVDs. However, I really can't justify paying $500 for the system, plus $50 for an extra controller and $60 for each of the 5 or 6 games that they already have out that I'd want.

It would take another $100 cut to get me seriously interested in the PS3, and some killer games would help too.

hahaha the funny thing is that I experienced the 3 ring of death 2 with the 1 I bought the store changed it the next day fortunately

The price of Wii won't be cut. It's already inexpensive compared to the other consoles plus it's unique. Nintendo would be stupid to cut it's price see how they are already flying off the shelves.

yeah I agree, they have no reason to cut the price anytime soon. They can't even keep the thing in stock right now. They probably won't cut the price for another year or so.

I don't think a price cut is coming from Microsoft. If it does come it will not be a $100 for sure. As a previous post mentioned, PS is in some trouble here in North America as the Wii and Xbox are kicking their ass. Microsoft will have their conference tonight and I think the focus will be all about the games coming out in the next 6 months (Halo 3, Madden 08, BioShock, Mass Effect, PGR 4, GTA IV and a slew of others).

I am not a M$oft fanboy by any means, but they are one of the best on the planet when it comes to marketing a product and its features.

Just my 2 cents.

is the falcon hardware any better or is it just the same thing as the elite but keeps the system cooler and doesn't break as often? The prices of the materials will be cheaper so shouldn't it be at the same price as the elite when it comes out?
