| Would you rather be a musician or an athlete? Okay, I've been contemplating a big career change, but I'm in a quandry. Should I become an athlete or a musician? Seriously, if you had the skills to do both, but could only chose one and be very good at it, which one would you be? If an athlete, which sport? If a musician, what type and/or what instrument? |

The question is vague and requires more input. What sport? Are you good at it? Are you past your prime? What instrument? Are you good at it? Who do you know that can help you take off? Essentially, which one offers the most promise?

If you had amazing talent at both, what would you do and why? Any sport and you can only choose one. | |

| Re: Would you rather be a musicain or an athlete? Musician, because you can do it much longer. Both however, take a toll on your body. If you can stay away from the sex and drugs, the musician is the obvious choice. In all honesty I was more of an athlete though. Translation: my life isn't going to amount to shit in either industry.

| Re: Would you rather be a musicain or an athlete? Athlete and be a pro golfer. I know a heavily debated topic on if golfers or race car drivers are athletes. To be a pro, golf has to be way to go. You play golf 4 times a week, schmooze with some corporate types, and potential for long career. |

| Re: Would you rather be a musicain or an athlete? Athlete. Don't be pussies about injuries, people. Come on now. Athletics is a much healthier lifestyle. You're always in shape, you can eat nearly as much as you want and as long as you're working out, you won't gain weight. I'd go for QB in the NFL. There's nothing that any musician can do, nothing, that's more bad ass than standing in the pocket and unleashing a bomb without flinching as an oncoming blitzer bears down on you. Then they hit you and knock you to the ground, and you don't even care, you just move to the side so you can see if your boy caught the ball. It's the ultimate unspoken toughness in all of sports. You will have creaky knees when you're older, but it's better than dying of lung cancer. And like I said, who cares about pain. Don't be pansies. |

| Re: Would you rather be a musicain or an athlete? This is a tough one. The rock star lifestyle is certainly tempting. However, the ultimate for me would be to be tied for the lead in the middle of the 18th fairway on Sunday at Augusta. That defines Heaven for me.

| Re: Would you rather be a musicain or an athlete? f that... I'd be a rock star. Athletes put their bodies through the ringer more often than not if they're successful for a long time... whereas the only major risk you take in the musician world is OD'ing... Plus, being in the music industry opens up a lot of other avenues for income down the road, and it seems to be an easier path to other aspects of entertainment. You could get an acting gig, or start your own label, etc... whereas athletes rarely get into coaching, and only a handful are good enough for broadcasting/analyzing. Also, you appeal to a larger market in the music/entertainment business, and you could probably pull major hot ass no matter where you were.

| Re: Would you rather be a musicain or an athlete? If I were elite (say top 100 in my field) then athlete. The 100th best WR can get paid a million a year. The 100th best bassist work a side job to pay his rent. If I were just very good (maybe the 1000th best) then musician. The 1000th best WR plays flag football with his accountant friends and talks about his 50 college catches to the ladies. The 1000th best bassist does three gigs a week and gets free beer at all of them.

| Re: Would you rather be a musicain or an athlete? Hmmmmm, tough choice. Both are cool! But...................Musician, Guitarist.......LEAD. In the image of the Old school guitar bands. Pro athelete is awsome, but music is an act of creativity. Something you made or built. Not to mention the other peripherals of being a star. Plus longevity.......do it competatively until you die
