| Can Trust be regained after it is lost? If someone has wronged you i na way that makes you not trust them. Is that trust lost forever or can it be reagined in you guys and girls eyes?

| Re: Can Trust be regained after it is lost? All depends on the person and situation. If it's a cheating spouse, all bets are off for me. Relationship is done. |

| Re: Can Trust be regained after it is lost? Situational. People are so unique that you can never really make one statement to completely generalize them. Except that one. ![]() Even in cheating spouse situations, there are some people (my grandfather for instance) that had an affair because they were unhappy in their marriage. When faced with the choice to end it or work on it, they chose to work it out. It took them moving across the country and changing their lives completely, but they have a great relationship now. Then there's my aunt, who is completely immature, and will cheat on anyone anytime anywhere over and over. She usually only attracts the type of guys who will put up with it for a long time and she's always in these long, drawn out relationships (been married like 6 times, 2x to the same guy) Most people lie, if that's what you're referring to. I lie sometimes because I'm bored. Usually I'll just be messing with someone stupid, and if someone of marginal intelligence were to overhear, they would either rebuff, or laugh their heads off... depending on their sense of humor. Other than messing around, flattery, and situations where I may hurt someone, I'm brutally honest. The answer is yes it CAN be regained. The question of whether it should be, is debatable and situational.

| Re: Can Trust be regained after it is lost? I don't think it can ever be fully regained, you forgive but you never forget. It's like a bank account, every time you f'up you're withdrawing your trust credits. Eventually you will be down to zero. There are certain things though that will lead to a complete cutoff (i.e. opening a credit card using my name and info).

| Re: Can Trust be regained after it is lost? Broken trust is like breaking a vase. You can glue it back together, but it's never going to seem the same to you, and you'll always know that it was broken. The vase can function just fine if you glue it back together, but you'll never feel the same way about it. I need to stop talking about vases. |

| Re: Can Trust be regained after it is lost? Very nice way to put it. If there's something that truly breaks my trust in someone, they MIGHT be able to regain it to 99.99% but EVERYTHING they tell me from then on will always carry that .01% of doubt, and for me that's a LOT.

| Re: Can Trust be regained after it is lost? I'm having vase problems! in all seriousness, time helps in such matters..........give it some. However, as Schneed's ..............stunningly tactful model indicated, it may never be the same again

| Re: Can Trust be regained after it is lost? Old saying..."trust is like a tree. You have slow growth, but only takes one thing to cut it down." Trust can be regained, but it will take a herculean effort from both parties. |
