| Madden Hints: Hey Guys, Im getting back into Madden for the 360. Last one I played regularly (and even not that regularly) was the one with McNabb on the cover for the PS2. I'd really love to get some hints about... how to play. I typically have one team that I play a franchise (Redskins) then I start a franchise with a fantasy draft and go through it like that. So, any hints appreciated.

| Re: Madden Hints: That's all you really need to know though. I'm not really sure what you were looking for here. I typically went for a very quick, mobile QB (VY in last years) and made draft pick trades in my franchise for good O-Linemen and LB's.

| Re: Madden Hints: It's going to take you a while to adjust your passing game to one of the harder difficulties. Fly routes still work well with fast receivers and fast and tall guys can really dominate. Also, don't try to run outside too much with slower players, they're not going to make it to the edge a lot of the time. And get a good running back, that's always the most important thing to any of my teams, a good running back and left side of the line. I pound the rock a whole lot!

| Re: Madden Hints: Yeah, I know. My offense mainly comprises of lots of hard inside runs, and play action for deep passes. I like the 4 WR set play action where all 4 wides cross the field. TE corners and corners still work ok, just not like they used to.

| Re: Madden Hints: I think the best thing you can do is to call the plays like it's a real NFL game. For example, it's a good idea to: (1) First and foremost, find a playbook you like and stick with it. (2) Practice plays in your playbook prior to games. (3) Don't run the same plays over and over; the game tends to punish playcalling that is predictable or one-sided (e.g., 90% pass, 10% run). (4) Don't go for it on 4th and 10 deep in your own territory unless there are 2 minutes left in the game. (5) Actually look at player matchups and expose weaknesses. (6) Don't blitz on every down. (7) Movement at the LOS (on defense or offense) tends to confuse the AI. (8) Practice throwing the ball high, to one shoulder, etc. (9) Substitute players for certain packages (e.g., if you always run in one formation, which you shouldn't, put a OT where the TE is). As for being a GM, the game sucks. You oftentimes have to pay a 3rd rounder 1st round money. You can often trade an aging, but good, vet for high draft picks. If you win a bunch of games, you'll have a roster filled with players with 95+ ratings.
