| Re: Colin Powell endorses Obama I think that has to be the most well thought out reasoning anyone has had about both candidates. He couldn't have summed up this muslim phobia any better. Rush Limbaugh is a washed up racist. Just ask McNabb. I am actually fearful of how radical the two parties have become, but I have lost the most faith in the Republican party at this time. They need to refocus on what matters. Lets hope that whomever wins, they put the people first, and as of right now that appears to be the Obama camp.

Don't agree with Powell on some of his points or his final choice, but he has made a thoughtful choice. I wish all folks voting would look at the candidates and issues as thoughtfully (not suggesting anyone here doesn't do that). I don't know WTF Rush is talking about, he certainly isn't helping McCain's chances with his nonsense. Way to not alienate undecideds/moderates Rush ????? Powell mentioned twice that the GOP has moved too far to the right. On social issues, he's correct. On fiscal issues, the Bush administration has ballooned gov't spending more than Clinton did. Certainly nothing conservative happened spending wise in the last 8 years.

| Re: Colin Powell endorses Obama Everyone should watch the Colin Powell clip. A very thorough, rational, and level headed thought process. We need more folks like him in office. |

I thought Powell was an absolute lock to be either the Presidential or VP nominee both in 1996 and in 2000. But what you wrote about Powell, many said about McCain just a year ago. Unfortunately those of us who are moderate Republicans are being gradually pushed away from our party and I thought that maybe a relatively moderate Republican like McCain would remind people such as myself that we are important to the the party and should feel welcomed. Instead he appealed to the far right by selecting Sarah Palin to be his VP. And it's not the selection of Palin specifically that bothers me, it's that I feel McCain caved and did what he didn't want to do. If I'm not confident he can stand up to his own party even at his own expense, how can I know he'll do it across party lines? Across international lines? Or is it safe to say "well he's done it before, why can't he do it again?" Well he's not doing it during the most important months of his career. And that's really disapponting to me. I think it's disappointing to Powell to and I hope that his words and a possible loss in two weeks will serve as a wake up call to the GOP so that in 2012 I can vote again for the Republican candidate...Rell/Schwarzenegger 2012!!!

| Re: Colin Powell endorses Obama Powell seems to be pretty clear on this, not much to say positive for McCain and not a single negative to say about Obama. I'm surprised it took him so long to announce this decision, since I'd wager he's been 98% sure for some time.
