One person with one minor cut. Otherwise no injuries and no deaths. Remarkable.
AND he walked the plane twice to make sure everyone was off before exiting himself. Amazing dedication and professionalism. This guy deserves all the kudos he gets.

Just a couple of questions:
When was the last time you heard of a jet liner crash landing wet or dry that anybody survived?
When was the last time you heard of a jet liner crash landing wet or dry that nobody was lost?
Have you ever heard of a commercial airliner in a water landing that saved the entire passenger compliment?
I personally think that this is extraordinary stuff, and I doubt that most pilots could do this as will be evident when the q's are answered. AND I suspect the miltary training has much to do with the result.

Sorry, but I don't have a bunch of links at the ready to answer your questions. Seems like you're getting bent out of shape over a post that agrees with your opinion.

Perhaps I gave the wrong impression. I'm not pissed about anything. Only Saden1 pisses me off.
I simply was posting a couple q's that the obvious answer to is: RARE occurrence, as whenever you hear of a jetliner going down we immediately expect the worst AS, that is what ALWAYS happens.....all lost, 2 survivors, 3 survivors? All lost, etc.
What happened is extraordinary, and the logical praise for same is the pilot.
The norm is jet liner crash with all lost.......
AND BTW, if that is not your opinion, that's ok to....HTTR

I can't have been the only one who thought of this, right?

Here's a little more background on the pilots training and expirence:
Hudson River hero is ex-Air Force fighter pilot - Yahoo! News

This guy needs to teach a class that all current and future pilots must attend. He is a hero in the truest sense of the word.

Re: Plane Sucks In Birds, Crashes in Hudson, All Passengers Safe

The fact that this plane some how floated saved probably half if not more of these people onboard. With the water temps and that swift current if people had to enter the water and get pulled away from the plane it would have made the rescue take alot longer. With those water temps people only have about 20 min. before hypothermia sets in and if the passengers got spread out alot of them would not have survived. Here in our area this past Tuesday we had a boat flip with six guys thrown in the water and even though the CG was there in 20 min. two men still died and three are still in the hospital.

Wow, what a great happy ending. I always thought those emergency pamphlets were mostly to make us feel good not for practical reasons.

I just have a sinking feeling the media is trying to find some dirt on this pilot. If they find it trust me they will advertise it!

I doubt that, although there may be a made for tv movie about the crash and rescue that somehow brings out dirt.

Here is the tape of the cockpit conversations
Yahoo!

Wow. They sound way calmer than I imagined.
