You actually think we sould drill for our own oil? Thats really pushing the envelope. What would happen if we killed just one fish or one tree.

Amazing. What's even more amazing is how much actual power the eco-nuts have over the politicians in this country when it comes to going after our own natural resources.

You are correct . If most Americans could see the lack of impact on animal and plant life , I doubt they would care what the greenies say . In Ohio , there are dairy farms and corn fields within 500 yds of old oil wells , deer , fox , ect. I think its save to say that wildlife has already adapted to humans - developement .

probably the reason we don't drill because who is to say where to draw the line, and stop. Americans are creatures of excess, you know?

i think we could. but like i said above, a new administration would change the rules, and go alittle farther. then we are left with what?

So we shouldn't do the right thing in fear that someone may do the wrong thing in the future? That is govt. at its worst.

The environmental lobby is incredibly slick in how they generate their massive amounts of funds.

Quick story, I had a Siberian Husky for almost 15 years, I get some mailer for a charity (can't remember the name) that (allegedly) rescued wolves, relocate them away from farms, and helped preserve their habitat. I sent them $ 50 once, but never sent in any more (despite the monthly junk-mail). A while later, I was reading about some of the eco-nut groups that were lobbying against drilling in ANWR and offshore and what do I see, but the name of the charity for the wolves....last time I donated to any charity without really doing my homework first.

Let's continue to send billions of dollars to fund regimes throughout the world that hate the U.S. and seek our demise, continue to have our economy hinged on the whims of OPEC/Venezuela or the increasing massive oil demands of China/India, and enrich foreign countries/companies rather than U.S. companies/employees because we're not sure where we "draw the line" and possibly somewhere down the line we might cross that imaginary line. :frusty:

Thank God we're at least building new nuke reactors.

But if you think about it, these clowns are probably scamming multi-millions in donations from all across America, so they're essentially getting paid to cry and yell in the forest, not a bad gig.

I didn't know any had been approved. It amazes me that we let that resource lay fallow for so long. I hope we finally get these back into commission in a major way.

I probably should've rephrased my statement to preparing to build. A few have been approved but not broken ground yet.

Slingin Sammy touched on it, Dmek -- and let me chime in... We are nowhere near a replacement for the internal combustion engine, (you and I will not see it in our lifetimes) and like it or not, we are still dependent on fossil fuels and will be for a long time to come.

Faced with this reality, would you rather see wildlife temporarily displaced with more offshore drilling and in places like ANWR if it meant that we would no longer have to send our soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen to the middle east to fight and die to ensure the free flow of oil?

LOL...ANWR stands for Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and they do have wolves living there in need of protection from people like you who want to "drill baby drill." This is where charities in the business of "helping to preserve their habitat" come into the picture and so I wonder what is meant by "slick."

Funny story, usage of the initialism ANWR is preferred to using Arctic National Wildlife Refuge because it sounds friendlier and does not make one sound cruel and callous.
