What has Obama done well?

Most of us know that Obama has done a poor job thus far as president (at least those that are willing to look at things objectively). So to be fair, and objective, what has he done right thus far?

Please note, this is not a bash Obama thread, we could fill up a ton of pages with what he's done wrong, this is purely a thread to show the positive Obama has done to this point...I'm sure Obama has done some good, so here's your chance to voice it.

I can see how you would think that, it's my way of saying "of course we all know I don't like Obama", but Matty gave me the option to say the positive that Bush did, and I did. I'm not out to hear the negative of Obama, I already know the negative, I want to hear the positive. Everyone deserves that.

I'm a righty and disapprove of a lot of what he stands for. But so far I like:

- The decision to pump money into the banks as part of the bailout.

- So far so good with promises not to increase taxes on the middle class.

- The reallocation of troops from Iraq to Afghanistan, and the increased pressure on Pakistan to allow us to hunt for the enemy.

- The speech to the Muslim world in Cairo. Not sure it accomplishes all that much, but extending the olive branch can't possibly be a bad thing.

You say that Obama has done a poor job, and imply that if anybody disagrees with that then they are not objective. So, you want people to post what they think he's done well -- although it must all be BS because he's done poorly by "objective" standards. Sounds like a setup.

I think you worded your post poorly, and as a result this thread might not get much attention. In which case, you'll point to it as an example of how nobody can come up with any reasons he's done well.

I also think it's funny that you say, "to be fair and objective." Then you also say, it's not a "bash Obama thread," but you bash him in the first post by saying we could fill up a ton of pages with what he's done wrong.

No, there are those that think Obama has done nothing wrong to this point, so if you think he's done a good job, say what he's done. My opinion of him shouldn't matter.

Health care lol. Oh done well, I thought you meant policies that were well done (hopefully). As far as done well I think he's done a good job of helping us recover from the image hit the country took when Bush was commander in cheif in regards to how people outside the country view us.

I don't pay attention to current events, so I have no idea what Obama's done -- good or bad. Sorry, I can't contribute to this thread.

I just thought your initial post was awfully matter-of-fact, but highly subjective, and a little fallacious. When I read it, my first thought was, "this guy doesn't care about what Obama has done right -- his motives lie elsewhere." I'm pretty sure giving that impression wasn't your intention, so I figured you could have worded it better to avoid that.

He seems so be good at putting a lot of debt on the books, but that's pretty much all of them.

Oh, I almost forgot. He's getting's Congressmen reamed out for his stupid BS. I love watching those politicians get screamed at. They deserve it IMO. It's not like they give a damn anyway, so might as well talk down to the rats.

If you want a free lunch then you'd be pretty happy with Obama. If you're going to have to pay for someone else's free lunch, whether you like it or not, then he can do no right.

In all fairness, he kept his mouth shut when the Persians were getting killed in the streets. That was good because it's not our business.

Nothing is ever black and white and with that in mind I find the following to be positives (concerns in parentheses).

More troops to Afghanistan (what is the end game? when is it?).
Getting out there to pimp universal health care (back room deals, possibility of no public option).
Stimulus/Bailout (though it might not be enough).
He attempt at bipartisanship (doesn't seem to work much though).
His willingness to go out and talk to the American people.
Support for education expenditures in the stimulus.
Support for cap and trade (not enough capping and no trade to speak of but it's a start).
Willingness to go out and cleanup the image of the U.S.
Reauthorizing SCHIP.
Supporting and signing the following legislation:
- Weapon Systems Acquisition Reform Act
- Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act
- Credit CARD Act of 2009
- Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009
