Make our dreams come true now thread.

This thread is not so much a discussion as it is a proposal. We all have things that we want to do in this lifetime that we would rather do now than later. Not all of us are millionaires and we do not want to pay back interest on loans to do these things. We know that eventually we will be able to afford them but we want to do them as soon as possible. I am suggesting a pay it back/ pay it forward type of deal. I am proposing a plan where the members of this site “front the dough” to take our dream vacations and such without having to take out a loan to fulfill our hearts desires. Before I go into the details of the plan I would like to give you an example of what I’m talking about.

When my wife and I got married we didn’t have much of a honeymoon. In fact we spent our honeymoon checking on the life of one of my soldiers. He had a seizure in the middle of the night and we had to rush down to Bethesda Naval Hospital to make sure that he was doing OK (Will provide more details upon request). Needless to say it wasn’t much of a honeymoon at all. We have been married for 10 years and over that duration of time we have always talked about going to Italy for an official honeymoon on our tenth anniversary. Well, our tenth anniversary has come and gone and even though we lived in Europe at one time we have not made our honeymoon trip to Italy. We are not meandered though. We know that one day we will get out to Italy for an anniversary. It’s just a matter of when. Realistically I do not intend on making the trip until our 15th at least. By that time I will be more than able to pay for the trip on my own.

That gave me an idea though. What if I could, in some way, assist someone else to afford their dream or trip of a lifetime come true. Furthermore what if a site of this strength could assist me for its members?

What I am talking about is interest free loans to help our members with their little dreams. What if we could help firstdown to make a trip to the Republican national convention? What if we could assist GMScudd to the Gator Bowl (When the Gators are playing)? What if we could help Matty with his house renovations? What if we could help SmootSmack with his aggressive takeover of ESPN? These are not impossible tasks to accomplish if we were to help one another.

The attack is simple.
Set a realistic goal that will not require too much money to accomplish. Do not try and take over the world. (This payback/ Pay forward will be interest free.
1. Donate a predetermined amount of money on a monthly basis to establish a nest egg for the site.
2. Use only the amount required to achieve your goal.
3. Pay back all money required to achieve your goal over a period of time.
4. Wash rinse repeat!
5. Do not try and use your aid in a period that would deem this program bankrupt. In other words: Plan and take turns.
What do you guys think?

Actually it's not! I was thinking what about if we put some serious money in this website, get some investers, try get a tv deal and like do a weekend talk show on redskins, former past and present ( i am dead serious) maybe like a small 30 min. show, interview outside the stadium, fans... visitors, maybe even get a 2nd or 3rd stringer to do a weekly blog or interview..... I like it.

Seriously though, interesting idea, the execution part may be a bit more difficult. Too easy for people to take money and disappear.

Yeah, do a wiki search for communism for a historical example of why this kind of thing won't work. You'd need a lock solid legal commitment from participants to donate in perpetuity to prevent abuse, and that's obviously not going to happen.

And I can't think of a worse group to try this experiment out on than an anonymous internet forum. Why not try approaching your family?

I'm not sure if this thread is suppose to be serious but if it is I'm not down for giving any of you mofo a penny unless you give me a few pennies to buy the Skins first. Seriously, if you're into paying forward I would suggest an alternate means of helping people through micro lending. I've lent people interest money before through an organization called Kiva and I managed to get my money back. I would explore micro-lending through various organizations like Kiva (i.e. prosper.com and microplace.com) if you really want to help people.

First off that would be the last thing I would want to do even though I vote about 95% Rep. I pretty much hate all politicians. My dream trip would take me far away from anything political to some remote island were spelling is not an issue.
