Any of the dogs with smashed faces/noses do.

Bostons, Boxers, Pugs, Bulldogs...

It comes from how they breathe and take in oxygen while they're eating. Weird, but I'm serious.

Re: What Pet Food You Use?

When I lived in Gainesville, one of my workout buddies was a teaching vet at UF's school of veterinary medicine. He had three dogs and a cat and fed them all Iam's. Good enough for me. I have been feeding our cat Iam's for all 6+ years of her life, and she's just as healthy as she was when she was a kitten. Knock on wood, she hasn't had a single health issue and she's just about middle aged now. Truth be told, I'd much prefer a dog over a cat, but my wife loves cats, and I don't have the time or patience for dogs right now.

Exactly right. I have both a Boxer and an English Bulldog. They both have the issue, but the boxer is by far the worst of the two.

The only chain that it is sold in is Petco and its also sold in some of the mom and pop independent stores. Its one of the most natural and healthiest foods out there. Its right up there with Blue Buffalo and Wellness and is usually cheaper. Feel free to check out the ingredients. I also started this thread to see what I could do to make any of you switch to Natural Balance as I recently started working for them a few months back. We do tons of events on weekends where we hand out free samples, Ive recently done a NY Mets game and the Apple Blossom Festival in Winchester. If your in the Baltimore area feel free to stop by our tent at the Dogfest in Timonium MD on the 19th and Ill gladly give you some samples. Hit me up if I can help you make the switch!
I guess I should say that I am NOT paid on commission so don't think Im trying to make money off you guys!
Yes used it and the dog liked it. But it's about $40 for the big bag. Plus it's not found in Giant or Shoppers or Food Lion/Bloom. So if you run out and forget you can't pick it up easily if Petco is closed.

Their also prone to heart problems. Also due to their type of skin and coat prone to skin cancers.

Re: What Pet Food You Use?

well, after this thread i switched my dogs' food from purina one to iam lamb n rice au naturale.

im going with lamb for the natural glucosamine for my bigger dogs torn meniscus which will fill with fluid periodically then he will be in pain, limp and hold his leg up in a very tense position for days or seeks.

yesterday i went to let them out of the cage and he banged his bad knee, hollered like the dickens, was shaking from pain, had to carry him up the stairs when we went to sleep.

but in less than 2 days he is now using it. the dogs do seem happier and more playful. its kinda hard to tell b/c they are just 2 and 4 respectively and like to play alot to begin with but i have noticed an increase in their energy.

anyways thanks fellas for bringing this up and talking about it. didint think dog food selection would have all that great of a difference.

cool thing is the purina one for 18 lbs costs 20 bucks, 15.5 lbs of the iams cost 20 too so it really isnt all that more expensive.

Great to hear. Healthy dogs are happy dogs...and in the long run, less expensive. Hopefully you'll get to enjoy your dog a bit longer now too.
