"I was wondering what all the scratches were," morgue manager Steve Johnson said. Now many are wondering how many other people were declared dead by local medics and sent to the morgue, only to die in a refrigerated drawer. Local medic Al Landry suggests there have been a lot: "A whole lot - a lot of us have been cutting corners on our check procedures," he conceded. "First you check if the eyes are closed, then you see if they are motionless. Third you check if they are breathing. Sometimes we sort of skim the third check." |

| Sometimes we sort of skim the third check??!! You've got to be kidding me. A guy died in a freezer because somebody didn't check to see if he was breathing?! Sometimes I really can't believe the world we live in. |
