James Holmes, 24, identified as suspect in deadly mass shooting at Aurora, Colorado, movie theater - CBS News

According to the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver, Holmes was in the process of dropping out of medical school. School spokeswoman Jacque Montgomery said in a statement that Holmes enrolled at the school in June 2011. She didn't say why he was withdrawing.

The University of California, Riverside, confirmed to CBS News that Holmes graduated in 2010 with a degree in neuroscience.

Not everyday you see a med student snap and go on a killing rampage. No previous criminal record. Nada. Very strange and bizarre to say the least.

As far as what could a ticket person do to someone with guns, well obviously your right, not much, but there usually a cop in movie theaters, and who knows, maybe police could have gotten there sooner.

Also who brings a 3 month old baby into a theater, yet alone a LOUD movie, at midnight?!? Thats one of those, the baby shouldn't be there if there wasn't a shooting!

But don't worry this guy will be dead, Colorado has the death penalty in their state, no question here of if he's guilty.

And firstdown, are you being serious? Where do you live if you don't know of a batman movie coming out...

And to speak to Mooby's trick; yes we did that too but one guy had to buy a ticket come in the theater and open it for us. Plus now a days if you open one it trips a alarm.

Ive heard speculation that he MAY have been employed through or had a connection with the movie theater in some way. So maybe he could have gotten the door open from the outside or had it stuck open after being inside.

His mom thought it was him when she was contacted by ABC, when just a name was known. Maybe because she knows her son is absolutely nuts or maybe because of some things he's recently gone through. I suspect you cant be too insane like and not get kicked out of the med school right away. But who knows.

He deleted his licenses pictures that kind of remind me of the above.

And I thought he was moving to CO from CA.

I don't mean to joke it just eerily looks like him from what I remember of the license pic he once showed us.

Obviously the other guy had lived in Colorado for a while if he was attending Med school and had enrolled back in June 2011.

The killer most likely left CA shortly after he was accepted to med school is my guess.

A very low probability of this being Los Panda.

My local AMC theater let people walk out through the emergency exit doors all the time. You're right you can't open them from the outside but seeing as how they are used very frequently at my local theater it was very easy to wait for someone to walk out and then sneak in. If it's similar at that Colorado theater all he had to do was wait for someone to walk out and he has his entrance. One thing's for sure though, they won't be letting anyone leave through those doors again, either at my theater or the one in Colorado.

Federal law enforcement sources tell ABC News that Holmes bought a ticket to the movie, slipped out of the theater once it began and propped open the emergency exit before gathering his weapons and gear and coming back into the theater. Once inside, he opened fire.
