I think marketing tricked a bunch of fanboys looking for scantily clad chicks kicking butt (which the film provides in spades), but like you said- the story was pretty creative and caught those viewers off guard. It was Zak Snyder's "sucker punch" to those expecting a vapid candy show. Everyone whines about Hollywood retreading ideas and storylines- Snyder creates something original and the same people get mad because it doesn't fit into a traditional narrative. And kudos to the actresses learning how to handle their weapons- I totally bought the action (the German trench warfare scene was insane). And yeah, the soundtrack is amazing. Loved Bjork over the samurai sequence. Last edited by itvnetop; 10-10-2012 at 03:05 AM. | |
