The scene will take a while to clear, there's probably a body with a bomb strapped to it. Poor Bomb Squad dudes.

Yeah, he's already taken atleast 4 lives and and maimed/traumatized hundreds of others. The last thing we need is to spend millions of taxpayer dollars giving him a "fair trial," lengthy appeals, feeding/clothing him in prison for decades until we can put a needle in him.

No need, he'll kill himself.

How many people would be ready for a summer of carnage, I wonder?. If this came to your town how would you cope?

It's like a bad episode of 24.

Totally agree, gregoryvii - as Americans we look at the quote from the uncle and think that he is denouncing the brothers. However, look carefully at his words. First, the quote says "He deserved his." At first glance I took this to be a typo meaning instead "He deserved this." But, read it as written - to an Islamist supremacist, death by jihad involving the killing or maiming of infedels is rewarded with highest honors in the afterlife. "He deserved his," as well as "They do not deserve to live on this earth" could be taken to mean that he deserves that high honor. Of course, Americans misunderstand those statements because we look through a western lens, not the lens of Islamist supremacy - perfect example of Taqiyya, or intentional deception in order to further to cause of Islam.
I think the poster is reading faaaaar too much into it and misapplying the term taqiyya. The uncle also called his nephew "a loser". To me, the uncle would not have used the derogatory term if he was invoking taqiyya - which is a self protection and limited in application to hiding was beliefs if that person is under immediate, mortal harm (further, Chechens are generally Sunni which doesn't recognize taqiyya as a formal principle since it was developed by the minority Shia muslims in response to majority Sunni oppression).

I would imagine that any follow-up will fully explore potential collaborators with these two. If the uncle is involved, I doubt he will be able to hide it. Until there is some evidence of that, however, I will take his statement at face value and assume he is both angered by and ashamed of the actions taken by his nephews.

Google the historian and theologian al Tabari, who was sunni. He said taqiyya is acceptable in certain circumstances. Also Kitman is always permitted when dealing with kufr.

Just because Chechens are generally sunni doesn't mean that they all are or that their observation of islam is the same as every other moslem.
Historically they have proved to be far more vociferous that most moslem groups. E.G. Beslan school attack.

The uncle just gave a live press conference, and called on the suspect to turn himself in and ask forgiveness from the bombing victims and the families of the same. He also said they brought shame to the name of all Chechens. He didn't sound insincere, he sounded indignant and angry.

I get the argument about taqiyya in the comments, thought it was interesting, but listening to him live, I don't think that's what he was doing

Here's a live stream (NECN - Breaking News, Boston Weather, politics and the Latest Business, Health, Arts and Sports) if you haven't seen it. Just talking media, but they just did an interview with a girl who went to middle school and high school with the suspect who is still at large.

Ruslan is borderline delusional. "Chechens are peaceful".

Not all of them, not recently.

EDIT: I take it back, he's obviously very upset, as anyone would be.

I don't disagree with anything you've said. There are always subtleties when discussing such philosophical principals. At the same time, we westerners have that silly principle of innocent until proven guilty. If the uncle is complicit, it will come out. To parse his words looking for a way to impugn him, however, is not proof of anything.

I agree, plus he's probably a Redskins fan.
