Re: Any update on Campbell?
If Rich Gannon could lead his team to the Super Bowl at age 37, I see no reason why Brunell can't do it at 36. Brunell's comeback from 2004 was outstanding, and he had an excellent year. One of the best of a very good, if not great, career. Like Matty and others have said, to not give him any credit for the success of this season is just pure hate.

It's true that Brunell has basically hit his peak, but with the team we have right now I think that's good enough to be a damn good team.

Truthfully, part of me wants to see both Ramsey and Brunell gone. Just because all of this Ramsey vs. Brunell debate is just plain stupid. Ramsey (and Jacobs) have apparently never been given a chance to show what they can do. And Brunell was no more instrumental to the Redskins' success this year than BrudLee (no offense Brud). I'd almost rather just say good-bye to both and start fresh with Jason Campbell.
Come on TAF, your not going to compare Brunell to what Gannon was doing in Oakland are you? Wasen't Gannon a league MVP? [not sure] But I do know this, he was a significant cog in the oakland offense, he was a big reason why they won, that can't be said about Brunell.

I don't really feel a QB is incapable of winning the big one at 36, but he better be a very good QB to do so, which Brunell is not, and he is certainly not posting numbers like Gannon.

If the choice is Brunell or Campbell I want Campbell, we are only spinning our tires with Brunell, I really believe the right choice here is Ramsey, perhaps we get Campbell some playing time along the way, then let Ramsey walk after the year is over and promote Campbell to starter.

I have an idea rather than trade Ramsey, why don't we recoupe some pic's by trading Brunell? If Ramsey can bring back A #2 or 3, then it's only right that Brunell command a #2 at the very least, after all he's a big time QB coming off a magnificent year and guided us to the second rd. of the playoff's. We wouldn't get laughed at by the rest of the GM's or anything would we?

It's funny but if you want to compare who is more valued by other teams than just put both of them on the market and see what kind of offers we get for either, I bet the offers come flooding in for Ramsey, and zip for Brunell.

I don't want to hear about age either, if a QB is capable of leading a team to the SB even if he only has 1 year left he would defiently have a lot of value to the right team. As well if Ramsey is incapable of leading a team to the SB, then what value does he really have? Why give up anything or invest in a QB who just doesn't have it, Dolphins, Jets, are 2 definate possiblities for Ramsey.
at first gibbs really did not like ramsey
he tell snyder to draft JC a gibbs duy so
defenitely gibbs will start playing him

as for brunnel he can be a good mentor to the kid
and he will groom him tremendously
I don't know about that, how much has his mentoring helped Ramsey? From what I hear from a lot of guy's on this board Ramsey still stink's, perhaps Brunell is not the guy to be tutoring other QB's, he obviously has failed with Ramsey.

Re: Any update on Campbell?

Just my thoughts, but I do think that Ramsey did change for the better by watching a healthy Brunell play this year. What makes me think that is when Ramsey had to play in the second NYG game, due to Brunell going down. There was one play where Ramsey dumped the ball off to Betts just out of the backfield. He went through his progressions, and finally dumped off to Betts, the thing is not that he went through his progressions and checked down to Betts but how he threw the pass. The old Ramsey would have "bulleted" the ball to Betts, who was about 4 or 5 yards away, the Ramsey I saw on that play lofted the ball over a defenders head to Betts, Ramsey put the much so coveted "touch" on that pass... Again, just my thoughts...

Too bad that we couldnt see more of Ramsey to really tell if he had learned anything or not...

And you're full of it, because his stats tell us a completely different story!
in response to your response about brunell playing like crap in some games this year... 9/25 for 25 yards. That's a crappy game and there's no arguing that.

Just to piggy back on this, I believe gannon had 4,800 passing yards that year. Brunell has NEVER come anywhere close to those kinds of stats. I'm just slightly wary of brunell cause he gets injured a lot, he plays piss-poorly when he is hurt and he seems to lose his game down the stretch of the season. That and he's a scrambling QB that's getting older and even slower.

Yea, he admitted as much, it did seem like he was putting touch on those passes in the giant game.

I also agree that it would have been nice to see him get a little more playing time.

I thought his stat about 11 of Brunell's 23 TD passes being of 8 yards or fewer was interesting. I didn't know that, but was curious to compare that to how the four remaining QBs did in the same category

Hasselbeck: 10 of 24 TDs-8 yards or fewer
Delhomme: 8 of 24
Roethlisberger: 9 of 17
Plummer: 12 of 18

And, of course, we can't talk Brunell without throwing in a Ramsey comparison. Ramsey has thrown 24 TDs since 2003. And 12 of them were for 8 yards or fewer.

2005:

72 yards (Moss)

2004:

13 yards (Portis)
2 yards (Cooley)
4 Yards (Portis)
9 Yards (Royal)
6 yards (Cooley)
12 yards (Royal)
5 yards (Royal)
6 yards (Cooley)
4 yards (Royal)

2003:

4 yards (McCants)
21 yards (Gardner)
19 yards (Coles)
4 yards (McCants)
6 yards (Gardner)
32 yards (McCants)
2 yards (McCants)
25 yards (Gardner)
7 yards (Coles)
19 yards (Jacobs)
15 yards (Coles)
14 yards (Gardner)
4 yards (McCants)
10 yards (Johnson)

I think we kind of discussed this in another thread a while back, just looking at actual stats for passing yards, as well as length in passing TD's doesn't alway's tell the whole story for either side of the argument, obviously you can have a 80 yard WR hitch pass for a TD, and then put the ball in the air 60 yards for a TD, it's tough to gauge something like this with a stat sheet.

True, I just thought it was interesting since Daly (the columnist) pointed out-with an exclamation point I believe-as if it were so horribly abysmal and unlike any other successful QB in this league.

Re: Any update on Campbell?

a TD is a TD, who cares how you get it? unless you're going to breakout a complete drive play by play for every possession of the entire season, TD reception length is a pretty useless stat. Maybe someone should e-mail daly and ask how the hell he thinks its relevant to anything at all.

Re: Any update on Campbell?

You see the footage of Campbell on redskins.com? He looks incredible. But I did notice he telegraphed both of those passes. Even Brunell telegraphs to much. Maybe they haven't played the cone version of madden yet. Alot harder to connect on a fly anymore...

Re: Any update on Campbell?

Don't you have to get the ball to the eight yard line to have an eight yard pass?
