Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
Well I'd rather be able to watch both games at the same time, which happened at least once this NBA/NHL postseason, and I enjoyed it, but I think the stations (I meant that instead of the cable networks lol, my bad) wouldn't like it because you'd have half of the market watching one and half of the market watching the other. Ratings would probably be lower because people in the area would have to choose one over the other, and it'd probably result in a lot of switching. I may be wrong because I don't know how exactly ratings are determined, which I'm sure you do because you work in t.v., but that's what I think what would happen. Having the games on seperate days would mean everyone would be able to stick to one game.
And I understand that they would be forced to have the games on seperate days if both teams had to play a home game at Verizon Center, but I don't think that would happen every time they played.
Yeah I wasn't talking about the ratings so much as the fact that if the Capitals had advanced they'd likely have played a game on Saturday night. As for the ratings, it would have not been too affected (effected?) by sharing the time. It'd be more affected (effected?) by the night it'd be on, Saturday far worse than Sunday. But there are also contractual obligations/limitations. It's a complicated little process, this scheduling thing. |
Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
As would I, but if they were both playing on the same night people would be forced to pick one over the other. I'm not saying people wouldn't watch the games if they were playing, I'm saying people would have to pick one or the other, or decide to alternate between both constantly. Some people would stick with the Wizards and other people would watch the Caps.
Well I understand your point. But I'm no so sure the fan base is quite the same for both sports. I'm into Cap hockey but could care less about watching Wizard basketball (But thats just me). Although I do hope they win, due to thats my home team. But for those who do have common interest in both and go to the games as I do. They won't be playing in DC at the same time so you wouldn't have to miss a home game. Even though now this is a moot point being the Caps are out. And if your a house mouse and stay home to watch all your sporting events on the boob tube......then you have the good old pic in pic option on that state of the art Big Screen HD plasma TV. Isn't this old modern technology great. |
Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
I guess now that I think about the Caps wouldn't have had home ice anyway
|
Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
Yeah this is pretty much a moot point seeing as how the Caps are out but I can understand them scheduling the Wiz game for Sunday. Although if the Caps had moved on they might've made them play on Friday instead of Thursday, even though there's a small chance of that happening I do remember when the playoffs started we were the only team to open the series on Friday instead of Wednesday or Thursday. Either way w/e because it's no big deal now.

What do you mean they would not have home ice? Or did you mean just this weekend? |
Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
Well you can look at it two different ways. The first is that they wouldn't have had home ice because they wouldn't be playing, or they wouldn't have had home ice because if we had moved on we would be playing the Penguins, and seeing as how they had a higher seed than us they would've had home ice. I think it's the latter.

Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
Halftime of the Wiz game. The Cavs are up by ten. Things were going pretty close and smooth but the Wizards unraveled in the second, missing shots and not holding them on defense. They are gonna have to turn things around if they want to win this game.

Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
Cavs scored 30 points in the 2nd quarter. Wizards had built a nice lead, as you say, but then totally fell apart. This is a must win game
|
Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
down by 4 with a minute left. That's not a huge lead at all.

Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
I hate the Cavs. Hate 'em.

Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
LeBron beat us the one way we haven't really prepared for. He drew the attention to himself...and then gave up the big play for someone else to make.
We're getting out hustled big time. |
Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
Good news is 3 outta the 4 Washington pro teams are playoff caliber. Bad news is none of them can get outta the first round. Damn it. SS is right about getting outhustled. It was frustrating to watch today.

Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread
what im getting tired of with the wizards is really no improvement since we beat the bulls in the playoffs. 1st round and out most likely 3 years in a row now, hopefully we can come back but this team is treading water

ESPN - Wiz's Haywood says LeBron should stop complaining about rough play - NBA
Wiz's Haywood says LeBron should stop complaining about rough play Overrated hasn't worked. Now one of the Washington Wizards is calling LeBron James another name: Crybaby. Following Cleveland's 100-97 win in Game 4 on Sunday, James, who has absorbed two flagrant fouls in this rough-and-tumble playoff series and has been banged around by the Wizards, was asked about Washington's tough-guy tactics. "I guess that's what they want to do," he said, "hurt LeBron James in this series. It's not working." On Monday, Wizards center Brendan Haywood, countered. "Awww," Haywood said, in a whiny, high-pitched voice to mock James. "They are trying to hurt me. He wears 23, he wants to be Michael Jordan, I can respect that, he's a great player. You saw what Mike went through. Mike got fouled way worse than this. No one is trying to hurt him, everybody is trying to play basketball, trying to play tough. Play basketball and leave it alone." |
