Re: HGH DR. linked to Redskins Player
Yup, Rodney Harrison...
Pats' Harrison suspended for violating NFL's drugs policy - NFL - ESPN
Dang, sounds like the league was able to take action against rodney b/c of his admission of guilt to prosecutors while an NFL security official was present. I like how rodney came out and admitted what he did. Rodney's situation sounds alot like santana's (atleast earlier on with what we know). The only difference is that i do not believe an nfl security official or anyone from the nfl was in the room or privy to santana's admissions of guilt when they were questioning him in Sept. '09. This difference is a major one in the legal world, but im not sure how much that counts in the NFL world. The nfl could always start their own investigation, call santana in, santana being a man doesnt lie and admits to Hgh, boom, 4 game suspension. |
Re: HGH DR. linked to Redskins Player
So the consensus thing i'm hearing is that Moss is the one who used Hgh. The question now is:
A) Will he be suspended/how many games will he be suspended for? B) do we now cut moss? or C) do we sign TO
I think you're getting a little bit ahead of things |
Re: HGH DR. linked to Redskins Player
I don't think that some of you get the difference between juicing with hgh and treating injuries.
from what i understand from the little Ive heard so far is that hgh injected into the tissue is considered a PED (although slight) vs if the hgh is injected into the cartilage which speeds up the healing process. given the difficulty in proving the intent of the injections, how much and where . . . i dont think it would be possible, punishment wise, to treat the 2 differently. It would be nice if the nfl did away with the blanket 4 game suspension and tailor the suspension to fit the substance. IMO roids and their masking agents should get they highest levels of punishment. (6 games) HgH (which seems to be real prevalent given no testing, you can only get caught if an investigation is started and your name pops up) and other banned substances should get a lesser punishment (4 games). Im not a fan of banned substances, but Hgh is a different kind of cat. i think the majority of players using a banned substance, probably use HgH b/c it is almost impossible to get caught for. I wish Hgh could be tested, im sure by the time they figure out how to, the players are on to another new better PED. |

You think so? I don't. He won't be cut, but I don't see how a suspension isn't pending. If he misses a quarter of the season, I wouldn't be surprised if Shanahan looks to bring in another WR (Bobby Wade and Joey Galloway aren't doing it for me). I hope it's not TO however. |

I definitely think it's a tad premature to assume anything at this point. |
Re: HGH DR. linked to Redskins Player
I think you also have to consider that before the NFL acts on this they will probably want the other 22 names on that list. Based on some of the rumors flying around the internet now, one of the names already mentioned on this thread is HUGE for the NFL. If there are any more big time players on the list the NFL may just as soon hault an investigation and decide that pushing something this big would do more harm than good in terms of fans becoming fed up with PED scandals. Those names will come out in time, if this Galea indictment goes to trial then these players are going to have to testify and then their names are a matter of public record at that point. Best case scenario is that Galea pleads and that list never sees the light of day.

Re: HGH DR. linked to Redskins Player
What would they base their suspensionon?
Certainly if Santana's admission in Sept '09 was videotaped I could see the NFL suspending him. If Santana signed a written statement admitting to it, I could see a suspension. Unless the NFL is granted access to the prosecutors file which contains direct incriminating evidence or admissions on santana's part , I dont see how the NFL can take action right now. Although, Im sure they will after taking the necessary steps to gather evidence to support their position to suspend him and reduce his ability to earn a living. So far, its reports and articles that santana admitted it. I think the NFL needs Santana to admit it or have trustworthy and reliable documentation evidencing that he admitted it. |

I think Moss being cut or TO being signed is premature, but I've got to think a suspension is coming Santana's way. He doesn't need to test positive to be suspended. |

Yeah but they would at least need some solid proof or an admission on his part. |
Re: HGH DR. linked to Redskins Player
I don't know for sure. Just know that Santana is one guy I've heard rumors about for a long time from credible folk.
I'll be damned. Great stuff, but I was kind of hoping you were wrong thinking I would rather have it be one of our UDFA. Context: Keep in mind this quote was posted before Sanatana's name was actually linked publicly to the doctor. |
Re: HGH DR. linked to Redskins Player
I think it would all depend on how they run the test. All they have right now is a doctor coming into the USA with HGH and claiming he was going to visit Santana. It being a Federal investigation then I can see them requesting Santana to have to take whatever test needed to see if it's in is body. Now the big question is how long does it stay in the body for testing purposes and when was his last visit. Then there is also the issue that even though it might be out of his system, it might show up in a hair follicle test.
I think it boils down to how far the Feds want to go with it. Besides simply charging the Doctor for bringing it into the country. |

Re: HGH DR. linked to Redskins Player
If the Redskins really feel they need another WR, I'd take a long look at Lance Moore. Personally, even without Moss I'd rather stick with what we have.
I don't expect Moss to get suspended this year. I think this will be a long drawn out process. I also don't think Moss will be the only Redskin name to emerge if more names are released |

As long as Santana keeps quiet about this, we'll be well into the season before the sh*t really hits the fan on this one. |
