Beck worked so hard and wanted to be the starting QB so badly. Let's just hope his psyche is not a fragile one and he can remain confident and focused.
He may have worked hard, and wanted it badly, but invariably JB always throws off of his Beck foot!

:)
must say im surprised. grossman is the "safer" choice, but beck has a higher ceiling/potential in this offense. that said, i will defer to the coaches' wisdom on this subject.
How does Beck have a higher ceiling?? Beck has had his shots, so has Rex. Rex went to a super bowl. Just because Beck is good at the bootleg means he has a higher ceiling? Looks like to me if you take away the bootleg he doesn't have much on Rex. Rex understands the system better and makes the "F&@% it, I'm going deep" throws.

PS: I am not johnny5dickey. Just observation from the preseason.
If Grossman can perform like he did in pre season I am all for him. But I remember his time at Chicago and his horrible ratings then.
He seems much improved, but yeah...

I have a pretty tight and mixed group of friends with whom I watch football every season. There's Cowboys fans, Bears fans, Broncos fans, etc., and it's pretty cool because of all the ish talking that goes on. I clearly remember that last season he was with the Bears and always screwing with my bud, saying "Damn, did Rex just get picked again?"

He was turnover prone, plain and simple.

Still, he looks like he has worked on that, and he looked better than Beck overall, so I am fine with this so long as we win. That's all I want for the 'Skins: to win.

And for the first time in a long time the team doesn't seem schizophrenic, so maybe we will do just that...

If he does good this year then fine.. but hes not someone to build a team around for the future. Jason Campbell wasnt either. I liked ferrotte and brennan.
But he is in his 3rd year in a system that much better suits his skill set. Comparing apples and bird doodoo....

I was a little shocked when I heard the news .. I was out in the middle of Wisconsin enjoying Pearl Jam 20, the 20th anniv. of the greatest band of my era. Hell of a show, getting back to the point .... After letting the Sex Cannon news sink in, I'm actually okay with it .... I wont' lie, when he's in the game I don't feel too bad at all, and honestly I don't feel bad having Beck being our backup. I know we all drink kool aid every year but something tells me we are on to something special.

Very encouraging to hear the other guys like Rex. At the very least he seems to have the confidence of coaches and players alike.

I hope he starts "solid" and builds steadily through the season.

I just watched Rex's interview on the Redskins site.

I found it very impressive and I recommend people take a look at where our starting QB's head is at.

This player has matured and he's obviously quite intelligent.

I really am hopeful that this guy can take it to a very different level than what most people are expecting.

Just read it myself, I really liked what he had to say. He seems ready for the challenge.

Re: Rex Grossman Named Starting QB

I dont think they are going to be asking Rex to win the games with his arm. He will have to do it eventually during the season, but I think we are going to run the SH*T out of the ball, 30 times a game, if possible which will open up a lot of deep routes. Which i think is the reason they kept Ryan Tarain vs Royster. HE is a proven guy that can handle the game and has produced. Another one I think is keeping Stallworth. Another guy that can stretch the field and with him, Moss and Gaffney you can't ignore them and can't leave them one on one.

I personally think it was the right move. Rex is a vet, I think the stuff from the past is in the past. The last 3 games last year, plus the preseason games he looks like a different QB.
