As I've always said. Smoking pot should be illegal. Vaporizing or eating pot on the other hand should be legal. Not that I use it but it's kind of hard to take people preaching all the health benefits of pot seriously when they're smoking it.
I'll open Pandora's Box and ask... What's the difference? |

The smell. The stench of living next to someone that totes up regularly is unbearable if you're not a user. Vaporizers and baked goods (assuming they're cooked below a certain temperature) produce little or no odor. Plus less cancer lower health care cost, environmentally friendly, saves money for the smoker blah blah blah. Basically it's a win-win. Neighbors don't have to smell it and pot heads can enjoy their product. |
Re: Report: Fred Davis, Trent Williams suspended four games
It's hard to stick up for two guys that smoke pot who make good money to play football. Especially when they're still considered underachievers. We're not talking about Jonathan Ogden and Tony Gonzales mind you. Potheads are typically 'slackers'. If you're a pothead and disagree that's understandable, you're high and/or in denial like most "users". How many potheads do you want working for you?

Okay who's worse. The two guys that failed a drug test 3 times or the guy that got into a car crash during a two game suspension then lied to police about certain details.

Re: Report: Fred Davis, Trent Williams suspended four games
Great, insightful posts. Glad to part of an informed discussion.
Here are my thoughts: 1) ATHLETES WILL PARTY. Most of us here went to parties in college / early 20's. Now infuse $1 million dollars, 6 months vacation per year, and unlimited ladies. Almost ALL of us would be partying - perhaps not exactly like these guys. Why does everyone always find it suprising they party hard... I say as long as it doesn't interfere on the field, it's fine. 2) MARIJUANA IS NOT DANGEROUS. Why do does the NFL even test for it? It's certainly not performance enhancing. It's being approved all over the nation, and they're debating approval in Maryland this week. Obama's admitted to all sorts of substance abuse in the past. 3) DAVIS / TW WERE BONEHEADS. Still, despite #1 and #2 above, they were idiots. Not so much the fact they did MJ. The thing was they did it REPEATEDLY, knowing they were already caught before, and knowing the consequences. Remember, even Santana Moss was linked to substances -- which I think was more serious, because they were performance enhancing (ie. cheating) - but at least he wasn't dumb enough to get caught again. 4) WE'RE A LOSING TEAM. This leads to 12th Man's critical point above -- this would only happen on a losing team. If Clay Matthews was caught & suspended for steroids --> he'd let whole team down & kill the perfect season. There's a lot more pressure on him vs. TW/Davis. Losing begets apathy. Again, the evil thought keeps creeping up -- the thought no one wants to admit having and that kills the team spirit/soul.... I have to admit my first reaction was "at least we may get a better draft pick..."
The Redskins are irrelevant in the national pro football scene and are in the bottom 5 of teams over the past 10 years. This kind of losing creates the atmosphere for this to happen. This might be going on on every team but it seems only the Redskins are facing these kind of suspensions. The once great Redskin organization which has been down looks worse now (and I didnt think that was possible). Its a shame. |

Are you saying the Redskins are the new Bengals? ;) Maybe Fred and Trent were shipping those Lbs. to the Cincy WR. |
Re: Report: Fred Davis, Trent Williams suspended four games
I'm sure no one realized this, but this is receiving yards by a TE:
1. Jimmy Graham 1,046 yards 2. Rob Gronkowski 928 yards 3. Fred Davis 796 yards For all the publicity that Jimmy Graham is getting, I think he's a lot like Fred Davis except that the Saints use him a lot more creatively. Gronkowski is just a different breed entirely, best TE in the league right now. |

It doesn't matter if the coach is Gibbs, Shanahan, Schottenheimer, Spurrier, or Zorn, this organization has indeed reached the lowest depths in sports. Yes, the Redskins are a storied franchise, but this kind of behavior and unaccountability and unprofessionalism would only be occurring within an organization that has reached the level of mediocrity that the Redskins franchise has reached. When I first heard about this drug thing with Fred Davis and Trent Williams, I first thought that they violated the substance abuse policy for using performance enhancing drugs. But now that light has been shed on the real truth, which is the use of marijuana makes me angry as a fan. When the team is trying to build, what do they have to build on when their 2010 first round draft choice and their best tight end/receiver like smoking weed? |
Re: Report: Fred Davis, Trent Williams suspended four games
What we learned about the Redskins in Week 13
By: John Keim | 12/05/11 8:05 PM Examiner Staff Writer | Follow him @john_keim » One thing that will be missed as much as anything with Fred Davis suspended? Yards gained after the catch. Davis is third among NFL tight ends with 296 yards after the catch, which leads Redskins receivers and tight ends by a wide margin (running back Roy Helu has 315). The other nine Redskins wideouts and tight ends have combined for 409 yards after the catch. Davis qualified as their best playmaker, but his foolishness cost him and the Redskins' offense. » Trent Williams should not be a captain. If you're going to put your own interests above those of your teammates, then it's difficult to ask them to follow you. And multiple failed drug tests suggest that's what he has done. Williams' last three games have been his best, and he showed up this season in excellent shape. But if he wants to be an elite player, missing four games is not the way to get there. |

Re: Report: Fred Davis, Trent Williams suspended four games
I heard on the radio this morning that only 11 guys in the entire league tested positive this season (not sure if they were referring to recreational drugs only, but I think so), and the only two players league-wide that will be suspended are on our team. Awesome.
Fred and Trent are freaking Harold & Kumar. You know you tested positive once. You continue to get high. You know you then failed a second test. And still you smoke weed. Let's call it what it is. They're a couple of pathetic stoners. The more I've thought about this, the more annoyed I've gotten. |
