Re: Peyton manning cleared to play
I think they give McCoy one more chance.
A WR core of: Blackmon, Greg Little, and Mohammed Massaquai (repping family baby) should be solid. A healthy Hilis and maybe Mike Tolbert (more family) is a pretty good core not to mention they have a good OL
I was watching 2008 Miami-North Carolina last night just because I was interested to see who from that game was in the NFL already (pretty much everybody), but it helped me to remember why I didn't think Greg Little was that great in last year's draft: he was a power running back in the ACC in 2008. I know he played a year as a receiver and all as UNC tried to replace Hakeem Nicks, but for a straight line running back to be drafted as a receiver in the pros? Kind of clarifies the infatuation Mike Holmgren had with Koren Robinson over the years, does it not? |
Re: Peyton manning cleared to play
seriously, can anyone confirm if i'm in the right ballpark when i estimate that manning's range was 75 yards in his prime? please

75 yards is elite distance and while Peyton Manning has a good arm he doesn't have elite arm strength. I remember a QB Challenge w/ Hasselbeck, Vick, Aaron Brooks, Manning, Brunell and the distance competition was won with a throw under under 70 yards. As a frame of reference Flacco (who I think we all can agree has elite arm strength?) can almost throw it 75 yards: [YT]1fa_GrbdcjY[/YT] |
Re: Peyton manning cleared to play
so i'm not in the ballpark when i say 75 yards? i remember seeing a pro sling it 80 yards with no pads, maybe it was culpepper. so manning would have been in the 60-65 yard ballpark in his prime?
thank you for responding, i'm trying to get a frame of reference for his "recovery". i think his range is roughly 40 yards right now. i can throw 50 yards on my best day and i stopped growing when i was in 7th grade. |
Re: Peyton manning cleared to play
I think Peyton Manning is going to come back, wherever he is next year with a fkking HUGE chip on his shoulder, and remind all the naysayers exactly who the hell they are doubting. I just hope he is on this team while he proves all the negative nancies completely wrong.

Re: Peyton manning cleared to play
Flacco and Cutler to me have the strongest arms in the league.

Re: Peyton manning cleared to play
Cutler for sure

I could live with that :) I also don't want him on an NFC East roster if it is not us. |

But it wouldn't surprise if Culpepper could chuck it 80 before his knee got trashed. Yeah, my guess would be 60 yards club for PM. I got no clue on how to even guess at what his range is right now. Every summer I throw with my nephew who plays at Olde Mill and my buddy who plays semi-pro. I can throw it around 45-50 yards, used to be able to throw it 55-60 before I tore my rotator cuff. I had a buddy in college that could throw 65+ yards baseball player that got a try out with the Marlins. If he beamed the ball at you, you could hear it hissing. |

What about Curious George? |
Re: Peyton manning cleared to play
boller, i believe. i'm pretty sure he can throw farther from one knee than i can on two feet.

Re: Peyton manning cleared to play
SkinzWin, you painted the exact scenario that has to be running through Bruce Allen's mind right now. Think about it, do the Redskins really want another high profile free agent that "might not" work out or the flags were there and they took the plunge anyway?
I doubt it. This PR battle between Irsay and Manning has to be turning off potential suitors.
We are talking about a HOF QB Peyton Manning here not, signing Jeff George. Manning has proven he is 1 of the best QB's ever to play. No GM could fault the Redskins for signing Peyton if he is healthy. He could give us 3-4 years while we find a future franchise QB. We keep all of our draft picks or trade down from #6 for more picks and get our young QB in the later rounds. This is a win situation for us. Peyton will is a top 5 QB when healthy and RGIII or Luck have not done squat in the NFL. |
Re: Peyton manning cleared to play
i don't see how peyton is turning off potential suitors
