You have suggested that the players the Giants have signed are solid players and justified the overpayment of said solid players by asserting that the Pats have been going to Super Bowls with solid players.

Implicit in your assertion and essential to its accuracy, however, is that the Pats have been going to Super Bowls with solid players and Tom Brady.

So, your justification for overpaying solid players because the Pats went to several Super Bowls with solid players is a logical truth if and only if Eli Manning is equal to Tom Brady.

Solid Players + Tom Brady = Solid Players + Eli Manning.

(Solid Players + Tom Brady) - Solid Players= (Solid Players + Eli Manning) - Solid Players.

Tom Brady = Eli Manning.

Sorry, it just doesn't add up.
Nice try but there was no implication on my side of your theory. The assumption is all on you and others I made no such implication.
Actually the assumption of yours and others is that the Giants overpaid for the players they acquired while again that is an assumption on your part that can not be proven till the season is over and fully evaluated.
I will ask again what post did I compare Eli to Tom Brady, not what post do you assume I mean .
but how many in that list were paid like superstars when first signing with the Pats.

Overpaying for solid players is still overpaying
Considering market value in the NFL keeps changing it's a hard question to answer also if the Patriots made it to or won a super bowl then I would argue that no one was "over paid".

Market value is set at the time of purchase, so it's really not a hard question to answer.

Your second part is to argue that winning a superbowl makes overpayment irrelevant, and I could accept that thought (as most Redskins fans have been forced to several times in the 2000's), except that historically overpaying a player, or players, has not been a successful path to the Superbowl. There isn't one good example of a team overpaying across the board in free agency, and reaching the SB that year. However, there are myriads of examples of teams who have tried, only to find themselves weighted down with bad contracts and underperforming athletes.

randy moss is just a solid player? he only had 437 TDs when he was a patriot, and he got paid very little for it.

Re: NFL Free Agency 2016

Yep, Moss had some monster numbers as a Patriot.
Seau has some pretty respectable numbers in his four seasons under Belichick.
3 INTs, 4,5 sacks and a feckload of tackles.

Giantone you are impossible. Let me say it very succinctly.

The Patriots win with solid players because they pay a normal market value. The Giants just drastically overpaid for solid players. Vernon had 7.5 sacks last year and that somehow made him worthy of more guaranteed money than JJ Watt.

The Patriots have Brady. You have Eli. Huge difference.

Thus your ceiling is 9-7 or 10-6, not dominance like the Patriots.

And the Patriots draft well. The Giants draft average.

You are entitle to your opinion but so am I and the fact that many people are putting words in my mouth or "assuming things" I have never said I'll try once more.

Eli is not Tom,again never said he was!
I never made a claim about going undefeated or any record at all ,I said in response to someone that after the last three years Mara would most likely be OK with a second round appearance, this only in reference of people keeping their jobs, all owners want to win it all.

With all due respect you and the others don't have a fricken clue as to what the ceiling is for the Giants and nether do I as I am only a fan as are you and the others.

As for the draft I would say "over all " they draft pretty close to all the other teams but with that said when you draft a QB in the six round(I think) and he becomes the greatest QB ever(or pretty damn close) then that does up you score a bit.

If Vernon has one sack or gets hurt yup you guys are right but yet again you won't know and neither will I till next season.
